Hey everyone,

As I decided to keep my buggies, I've decided to start a budget buggy project.

On top of the initial cheap purchase cost of the buggies I have, I'm going to spend no more than 50 dollars getting one of them running.

I've decided to get the Hong Nor buggy working. Its a previous version Ultra GT, but all of the parts, in fact most of them, are interchangable with the new Ultra GTs. The only real difference is the steering servo is where the tank is on the new buggies, and the tank is where the radio box is.

The Kyosho is going to sacrifice its parts, as many of the Kyosho bits WILL fit the Hong Nor IE the shocks, a few suspension parts, etc. I'll use the best of each.

Out of the 2 Force .25 motors, the normal one will go in for now, and the one thats got no head screws will be ported and kept as a spare engine.

I dont want to race the buggy, so the project is going to be perfect for a cheap basher, which I could probably sell later on for little or no loss.

I'll keep you all updated with photos on how its going...so far it needs a new spur gear and a pair of tyres and thats it, so it should be up and running in the next couple of weeks, time permitting! :)

haa! so interesting! i like it!

i did a similar thing with my second car i bought for parts. it was missing a motor and a speed control. i happened to have them left over from where ive replaced them with better parts on my race car, and after 1 night i had a second car up and running for week day bash abouts.

this is cool. id love to see the pics on this one as it develops!!

I cleaned the chassis up last night...sprayed it all over with metho, let it soak, then rinsed it off..

The radio tray had melted heat shrink and battery acid all over it (dont ask me how this happened, its how I got it), but it cleaned up nice with some industrial cleaner I found at work.

The car needs 4 new tyres, a front bumper and a spur gear.

I was donated a Sanwa receiver from a friend of mine, and I have a pair of Hitec 5 core ball bearing servos, and a Sanwa dash radio sitting at home ready to go on.

Body shell is waiting to get painted by the same mate who donated the receiver (he is a gun with an airbrush), and its pretty much almost done!!!

I'll get pics real soon ;)
