hey all!
i had a chance to test out Ross' new tyres [poly-u....mix].
...after some feedback, i would say the mix needs to be 'slightly harder'.
here's my input.....
i had to soup up the tamiya a bit to get em ripping, and have a
couple of conclusions. [in a sorta sub-scientific explaination]
test vehicle: tamiya TT-01 a bonified D machine,
tried different ratios, and with a 20 & 27t motor.
let's talk about how cool they are first...
1: guarenteed 'perfect' for nitro, even tho i haven't tried that yet.
[i would market them as 'nitro' drift tyres!] - i have a thousand reasons why.
2. in electric drifting, the rotating mass 'drives' the drift to
some crazy angles. you can push the drift harder thru turns.
3. braking response is always smooth and enables you to control
some hairy angles with great ease, positive on high speed entry
to fast drift corners.
[it just kicks in like....zzzzooom, beep, "you are now braking"]
- in some robot-like japanese voice. hehe.
4. perfect for massively overpowered modified motors. yet to test, but i'd say so.
and the minuses [if you could call em that]
1. due to tyre weight, you get a lot of inertia in the drift,
so you need balance your car correctly. [recommend, belt electric] tends to be more difficult too 'link' drifts...but with practice, who knows. [am trying a belt tomorrow-and video taping them]
2. with a 27t they tend to grip too much, and 'throw' the car slightly. [which is sometime a cool effect, backwards drifting almost]
3. the weight, the are heavy. you MUST POWER UP. [in electric]
so thats it so far, the next D meeting is on the 7th August. we will test further then.
