OK, i've seen your electrics and the ones down at the track. I've always been into electronics and like to have my little projects.

The lure of being able to test the car indoors and not make a huge mess is making me think I would like one.

Well, i'd like your advice to which electric car would be a good to see what it's all about.

I am pretty sure I would prefer a 1/10 tourer to start with because that is what I am familiar with.
I have a nice charger and a spare servo and I could rape the radio equpment off one of my nitro's

I want something cheap, 2nd hand would be OK. It doesn't have to be the fastest car out there but I would like it to be upgradable and be easy to get parts for.

I would consider selling/swapping one of my nitros to get the cash to get started. Probably one of the Kyoshos.

Tell us what you think.

I recommend Tamiya TB-02...

Its similar to a TT-01, but it comes with a whole bunch of hop-ups such as turnbuckles, aluminium prop shaft, oil shocks, etc...

You can get them on eBay very cheap, although you do need to purchase an ESC and radio gear separately.

ok what i did was search for THE CHEAPEST thing possible just to get me going. i bought a bare arse car, cheapest radio gear, 1 x battery and a charger that works on both 240v and 12v (for use in the car).

ive upgraded the speed control, motor, added turnbuckles and im now getting third place in my class @ race days.

here is the same car but with the radio gear built in, also includes a battery and charger

same shop i bought mine from, same car, except this car in the link above is RTR (ready to race). open the box, charge the battery and youre off. no need to install/assemble anything and the price is $369

another option is second hand. i picked up a clone of my car with radio gear, 2 batterys, motor and manual speed control for $200. its in good condition, shell would need replacing, but its good and has spares (something you dont get with new).

theres your two options in my opinion. ebay is your friend for second hand.

electric is quiet, good for the environment :p and cheap to run (buy a NiMh battery and its good for 500 charges). with a motor upgrade, an electric car can be just as fast as a nitro car.

hope this helps you make your decision :)

mmmm.....

I dont know. I was looking at the electrics at my LHS yesterday and I was pretty close to buying one.

But for $300 I could buy 4 iwavers and spares and race against my whole family at family events.

Also I could play inside.
