View Full Version : anyone know much about these cameras?
Hey all, I'm loking at buying my gf a digital video camera, its not for a birthday or anything, shes just always telling me when we go shopping how much she wants one.
These arn't very expensive, but thats kinda what I'm looking for, because knowing her, she'll get bored of it in a couple weeks, and barely use it, so I don;t wanna go and spen $500 on a camera she might not use too often.

So yeah, I'm just looking for a camera that "does the job" sorta thing. So yea... I just don;t wanna buy one, and find out that I've overlooked something, or i need to go out and buy a whole new lens or something because the one that comes with it, is shit.
Oh, and I know i have to buy an SD card, so thats all good :)
any advise appreciated :)

JD , i can tell you from experience not to touch it if your looking for something decent . This camera is only good for extreeemly ameature footage cause 1 thing they wont mention is that this model only does 15fps which is very jittery .
Photo quality is also terrible . Its acceptable in sunlight but it doesnt have a flash so night or dark shots are just as bad as a web cam or crap phone camera . ALso , they say glass lense , thats the top lense , internal its all plastic lense so pix are distorted when used at high res .
All in all dont bother with it if your gf intends on using it for taking good quality video and pictures .
To be honest im looking at 1 of these to put in my RC plane as i wont care too much if i smash it .
By the way , thats expensive , heres the link for them about $40 cheaper ( after postage that is ) :

their allot better JD but false advertise on the frame rate , they do 25fps but only as a webcam , not as a recorder .
I know this may be getting a bit pricy but this is a decent entry level 1 :

that video clip is all the ones you mentioned in regards to frame rate .
oh right, well its not THAT bad, cos I'm not looking for dvd quality movies, and she won;t be fliming drag races or anything, so its not that bad

Be better off with a good 5MP Digital Still Camera as most have some element of Video / with sound at VGA quality (640 by 480). Also more "handbag friendly" as well!
yea my 4.1 sony cyber shot takes quite good videos. about 10 minutes worth with 256mb memory stick.
