its also my understanding that there could be a car height restriction. I believe a sanctioned 115 mm height rule.. or something. I need to get a hold of the rules..

I dont know the exact rules for AARCMCC but our club restrictions are:
Appearance:
2 or 4 door sedan or GT (no GTP)

Body Openings:
Openings in the body should be kept to a minimum

Body
Body not cut above lower door line or above rear bumper line. Cut outs only for wheels, body mounting holes, antenna and transponder, cut for minimal clearance. Windows translucent, not solid colour nor cut out.

Body width:
200mm maximum

Plan view:
No protrusions from under shell

Length:
360-460mm

Height:
110-175mm

Wing Identity:
One single plane rear wing no wider than body or above roofline

Wing Chord:
40mm, protruding not more than 10mm behind rear of body

Wing end/side dam:
20mm high x 40mm deep (maximum)

Gurney Flap:
3mm

Wing end/side dam:
20mm high x 40mm deep (maximum)

That means most of the proline body wing ends you guys have to cut about a 3rd off.
aarcmcc legal size is 35 x 50

If its legal do you reckon you could instead of cutting the wheel holes completly off just cut the rear and then bend thebody out slightly to push the away from the holes where the wheels would be?

basically any unusual shell modifications are going to be picked on, so being different isnt a good idea..

So it seems there will be a body shell height rule... no SLAMMED tourers then ;)

I know for a fact they will be weighing cars (perhaps only top 3 or 5 of ea class), and also doing inspections on cars, motors, etc..

There's going to be a LOT of tourers with weights in them to bring them UP to min weigh in.. :P

It will be the same rules as the state titles were. All cars will be checked for weight, height, width as a bare minimum before they are allowed to race. A finalists will have even stricter scrutineering before and after every race. Usually top 3 will have motors stripped down after the meeting too.

Body shells have to be 4 door sedans, and have to have raced in a Touring car series, not sure exectly which touring car series but the ifmar rules will tell you that.

They scrutineer at our races.

They dont let you take the car away after a race until it has been weighed, measured etc.

I've even seen them ask for a motor to be taken apart so they could inspect the insides :O

Stuff that! I just wanna race for fun, I use a shell that I like the look of! I'm also new to onroad in a racing sense, but if it means goin for a butt ugly shell and having my car dismantled, I won't bother! Takes the fun out of it.

'legal' shells arent ugly as such... the alfa and chrysler shell's i have are pretty neat.. it comes down to the paint job too of course :)

Just what the world needs, me to be a sheep and buy a "Sports car" like everyone else. I prefer the term "sleeper" lets face it, what person would picture a Magna to belt the piss out of a V8 Commo off a set of lights? Expect the unexpected :)

Height:
110-175mm

Bit of a noob question, but i've read as many differant versions of the rules as posted all over the place.

The 110mm minimum height is to top of body when mounted on car?

I think you'll find that the shell must be based on a 4 door sedan. 2 doors aren't allowed even if it's like a Mustang or RX7 or the like... The most popular are the Mazda 6 and the Stratus 3, both 4 doored cars...
