the bit of bitumen we will be using tonight is nice and curved and downhill.
think inital D mountain style :P
next comp from the d10th.com lads is November 12 (a saturday night) at the Whitfords city under cover carpark.
this will be our final comp for the year as this was a short season for us.
for more info visit www.ausdrift.net
many skill levels and cars take part. from tt-01 with silver cans to trf415's with novak brushless to HPI r40's with stinky nitro motors :D
come along for a laugh at this or one of the many other meets we have on a weekly basis.

do a google search man... it's all about getting your car sideways, yet maintaining control..
he who drifts with little error gains max points :)

im not the best person to describe it.
pretty much its a controlled slide around a course.
unlike racing its not the 1st person around the track who wins, the better angles you get while maintaining a good line and speed the higher you will score.
we have judges who score the event runs.
we try to keep our rc comp as close to the official D1GP rules and methods as possible.
so form a plebs point of view, drifting is keeping a car as sideways as possible around a track as consistently as possible while looking as good as possible... and you must smoke while doing so...
most of us run plastic retic poly or ABS ag pipe tyres. still give a little traction at lower speeds but you can use inertia style drift at that low speed to break traction or just pull the throttle hard to break traction.
www.d10th.com has more info written by people who are more fluent with drift than me :)

hehehe do it, and film it.
best spots i have seen for drifitng so far were at belmont council park. around the fountains etc. madness.
were kind of lucky we have managed to get the security at garden city, whitfords, belmont council etc on side so we are good to drift there and they give us hugs. also jack has gotten the ok form the belmont race course security guards to leave a permanent marked track on thier carpark... now those guys are cool

So whats the deal on the racing? can you see the whole course from one point or do you break it up into segments?
Looks like a fair distance for an RC race!
