im with you. i only bought an on-road car to enter the nats. something to "be a part of" so to speak.. In it to be involved, more than to try and win something I don't have a chance of winning! hahaha hopefully it will be a FUN weekend! and hope the rain goes away.

Mate you've had what? 17 laps in a 5 minute race already? My record thus far is 12!

i got 16 laps :-(
close but no cigar, still just trying to figure it out, i look at James's and David Sims car, now Dave is running same gearing as mine pinion etc, however i just look at your two cars and the torque and top speed is definately outweighing mine even though we all have the same motor. What other gearing should i look at and where is it located??
I have 4 more days to get it sorted.... I WAS LAPPING B CLASS AND STILL 16 laps!!! :-(

16 beats 12! And I am using same motor and 7.2 gearing, could it be the driver? :D
faster steering servo dan, thats next on the list i think.
get through the corners sharper with no lag from the steering.

I have to admit my 0.08 server is nice and quick.. and very handy in the double-S section..
Because I'm not some clown that has to hide his setup from others a big events.. I'll tell you right now my overall gear ratio is 7.16..
I tried 7.00 which gave me a little more speed in the straightway, but the car was considerably slower through the tougher part of the track.. and the motor was WAY WAY hotter to the point where I could just slightly smell that lovely motor epoxy smell..
In my opinion until you get on top of your gearing and know how to change it properly and understand how it all works, you'r not going to be a consistant winner. I used to think that 'gearing the motor so it's nice and hot but not burning up' was the best way to go.. but no.
also, all cars are different. while I gear my car at 7.16 overall, your car is different, maybe a free'er driveline, maybe lighter, etc... thats something you need to figure out.
Another thing to consider is Dave has been driving r/c for a lot longer than we have, so he should be the better driver! He's the first person to pull 18 laps back to back. in one race I think he did an 18.8, that means if he's 8 seconds faster, he'll pull 19 laps.
I believe my best overall race time is 5.2xx meaning I'm 2secs off getting 18 laps.
When Dave said that sooner or later "19 laps will be the normal" I was a bit "yeah right" about it... but I can really see it happening, esp when people sort out their cars to suit the new track.
I suggest getting on top of the gearing.. and from there learn how to work out roll-out, etc. (especially if your running foam's as they wear down, the roll-out changes, and your whole gearing changes)
I then suggest getting in PRACTICE. practice makes the better driver, same can be said about most things I spose! hehehe. Try and hit those corners in the same place every time, try take the straight way on the same line every time. Consistancy wins races.... keep your laptimes as simular as possible and be the winner :) oh and learn to dodge the hack's like me! :P

there is only one secret to bieng the quick guy on the track, as james said in the last post, practice, practice, practice. Money cant buy you a race win
. Money cant buy you a race win
Aint that the best ever statement !!!!
Lots of people with lots of $$$$ invested, but if ya dont practice ya just dont win...well for most of em ;)
