Hi all,
just a reminder, Ryper Raceway are now alternating On-Road and Off-Road racing on sundays. This sunday (20th November) will be Off-Road racing. Nominations are 12pm and racing starts 1pm. This is on a trial basis for the club to see if the numbers are there to support it. The more racers we get, the sooner we will have a transponder system to use, and the longer you will have a sunday to yourselves without having to squeeze in before the on-roaders.

Are you sure..cos a few people I know were told no nitro off roads, as they didn't want the track f*cked up for the nationals in 2006.

I was down there about 3 months ago, and the owner (can't remember name) told me and 3 others that race 1:8 nitro's that we were welcome to go race there, to get a club going etc. Then a few weeks later, I got told it was a no go.

The best thing to do is to phone Ryper and ask about that :) I also heard something about nitro something'a'rather. but hey... I'm not gonna comment ;)

We used to race @ Alcoa, but they took back the land, and now there's a new track up at the Rockingham BMX club.
Only thing is - have .30s in an 1:8 makes us inelligable for any of the classes.
February will see my new Hyper 8 and OS 21 attack!

there's a new r/c track in rockingham?

Alcoa took back their land!? bogus, those guys looked like they were working hard on getting something running down there.

Phil - the guy @ Alcoa, I think he wasn't 100% sure where he stood with the land/Alcoa. I know the guy, and was there when started the Alcoa track, built the rostrum etc..they used to get about 12 guys down there, the track wasn't bad - but a few issues with the surface etc.. Alcoa twice took the rostrum down, and in the end, we relocated. The new track in Rockingham's about 1 month old, so it's not really bedded in and sorted, but that land is private, so it's not likely to be taken away (as was with Alcoa).

I keep trying to get Rucci / MYC to sponsor me!

nice one. I headed down with some Ryper guys one day to have a look and they were there shoveling the track, raking, etc. the rostrum looked insanely dangerous, I'm not suprised alcoa took it down.

phil seemed pretty sure it would all take off, and mentioned plans of an on-road asphalt track down there too.. i guess it all just fell apart. respect to them for trying though.

the problem with public track's is they can get trashed if not secured.

the problem with private track's is land is expensive, as is maintenance and everything else that goes with it. hard to get a return on your investment.

we're lucky we have any track's ...

Yeah..the rostrum was only temp..I was up there racing on it and it felt wierd in a dangerous way up there. I also heard about the onroad track, but yeah, it never happened. Roots started coming thru the track, and they organised a clay/dirt mix to be dumped there, but the track couldn't get in thru all the trees.

I love Ryper's offroad track..a bit small for 1:8s IMO - but I don't think it was ever intended for us, but def agree - private track's all the go - if you can keep em secure.

You may be able to arrange to take over the existing electric track. It's still there with a rostrum and control booth. The club has been closed so you may be able to arrange to take over ownership if the other one doesn't work out.

Which one bob - the offroad one at Ryper?

the offroad track at rockingham, next to the soccer club(s). I was there yesterday having a look actually.

the track is probably one of the best in WA in my opinion (to race on), the rostrum is massive (brick, stairs, railings), storage area's, fenced off (fence needs attention) and more.

It would be bloody cool to get the track going again, but I thought it was being demolished?

you can easily get into the track for a burn on it with ya r/c, there's damaged fences to walk past ;)

Yeah, they banned nitro's there - by order of the C.O.R - for real.
I went there with my Hyper a couple of months back - it was over grown with weeds, and there were kids in there.

Rockingham City Council - PANZIES.
Keep in mind this is the same council that wanted all roadside car crash crosses removed because they were "unsightly"

I would love to have 200m2 of land to develop of my own free will..that would ROCK!

"The `Control Freaks` track in W.Wales was host to the 2005 `Maxfest` competition. It features a conventional track, free-style area, `big air` jumps, a drag strip and a rock climbing section. The track is free to use when the shop is open."

I was up at Ryper Thursday, he said no more 1/8 nitro buggies on the track after this week end. When do they open the new Rockingham track? Be sweet if it's anything like your pics!

I can't stand that Ryper guy..he is the biggest prick I've ever met, and he talks so much shit.
I was talking to a couple of guys from the Rocky Track on Friday..they're gonna fully work the new track at the Rocky BMX track when they get it all fenced.

The ryper offroad track is currently closed to nitro cars as work is being done in preparation for the 2006 electric offroad national titles.

Dave does not mind nitro cars on the track but unfortunatly the 1/8th gas cars rip the track up. If there are any queries then contact David on 9494 2950

Chen..Dave's one of them guy's who changes his mind like the wind..one minute he's telling us "Make a 1:8 club, join up, we'll do this, that and the other" then 5 mintues later he's saying no..it makes life dificult.
