OK, heres the official low down on the WCMRC caravan race.

Your caravan must not contain any electronics. Ie: it can't be motorised.
Your caravan must still resemble a caravan at the END of the race.

Thats pretty much it! The e-maxxes will be running in their own class. Other entries (2wd/4wd/truck) may be combined or seperated depending on numbers.

Prizes are still in the works, but there may be one for best looking caravan, best destruction, and of course, one for winning.

The caravan race is to be held at the end of January '06. Likely to be Jan 27th, which is the last friday of the month. This gives everyone about 2 months to build/buy/import/strengthen/armour plate/whatever their caravan.

That is all :)

i have an old RC Car Action from '90 or '92 that has trailer plans in it, but it's for balsa... and not a caravan, but might be able to adapt if anyone is interested in it?!?!

Balsa?? LOL, knowing some of the maxx boys, they're likely to be solid aluminium or steel frames!
Probably with spikes all over them or something!

LOL, except those devices would need electronics, and none are allowed in the trailers.

Actually, I think we might make an exception to that rule for lights.

JD

I can't imagine an LED kit on one of those caravans lasting for too long, by the sound of things lol

Should be a good event. We're looking at holding it on the 27th of january, so everyone has about 7 weeks left to build their entry.

i dony have the technology just yet to put pics up . but imagine a van made out of welded plastic. with independant suspension from a maxx. my brother has his plastic welding business. i am just working out how to mate the axle to the van. should be strong as hell.

An update on the caravan race:

Entry forms will be avaiable friday night.
We will have 2 trophies up for grabs on the night.
Entry will be $10 (pays for the trophies).
To avoid people using little matchbox caravans, we've added a rule, it must be longer than 200mm.

We're hoping to make this an annual event so there will be a perpetual trophy.

Rob, is there a weight factor involved??.
How low is the ground clearance have to be??.
How wide has the van got to be??.
Yes I may have missed something, but hey, old timmers is setting in for Bill and I.
Or is all this valuable information available on the entry form??. :(

No

Rules regarding caravan design are an absolute minimum. Basically a minimum length to stop people just using a little matchbox caravan etc. A 200mm length is the only size restriction, people could make it 10mm wide and 10mm tall, but that won't look like a caravan so wouldn't be eligible. Some basic thought about physics and gravity would lend itself to an appropriate design to that minimum length. The caravan does have to make it around the track, corners, jumps etc intact

hi it should have to look realistic, similar to the wheelbase and size of the vehicle thats towing it. my 2 cents. how is every body's vans coming along.fellas anybody....

KingBob
