Am wanting to get my g/f a reasonable car to run a 540 in, I figure if I get her into this hobby she may bitch less to me.
Can get a TB01 or a TT01 for roughly the same price.
So.... which is better? Parts availability isn't an issue, in a Silver can I don't see her breaking much!

I've got a TT-01 and a TB-02 (close i guess)
The TB is the better car by far. Handles much better out of the box and goes better to. The silver can supplied with the TT was crap, it wasn't even the normal silver. Swapped the silver can from the TB into it and it was much better.
If the TB is easier to drive it will make your girlfriend look much better which will make her happy, she'll enjoy it more. And you will relish in the rewards!!!
By that i mean she may understand why you spend so much!
(and of cause maybe some other rewards)
Seperate note, good to see girls getting involved. No reason why they couldn't be just as good.

Apart from what bd said - I woulda thought the newer type would always be better (TB).........

the TB-02 is a great tub chassis touring car to start with. it was my first.. :) all the TB evolution parts fit, including driveshaft, suspension components, blah blah.
as for silver can motors, there's a few different types. The best that I am aware of is the silver can with black end bell type. "mabuchi" i think. I got one with my mini and also have one laying around at home and they go quite well. I think the other type has white end bell. then there's all the older ones around the place.
for budget, I'd go the TT-01, there's still lots of parts to get for them, and it's a neat easy to work on car for someone that wants to get into racing.
if you buy new, she gets to build it herself (not you) and she gets an understanding of how things work/go together etc.. so she can repair it herself when it breaks.

nexxus dont you already have a tt01 or have you sold it? go the tt01 great begginers car and worked well for me as a very cheap car to mod and maintain just to get used to driving.

Out of the box with identical ratios and running gear a get very simular lap times with my TB-02 to my TC4.
But our track is set up and designed in such a way that fast cars don't have a big advantage
I even think the build quality is significantly better than the associated. At least the front wheels dont wobble around corners like the TC4

See I have both a TT-01 here and a TB-01 coming I picked up dirt cheap. So it's not a case of buying one or the other, it's what;s going to handle better to keep her enthused. The TT-01 was ok, but handling wise the Losi XXXS shits on it.

TB-02 m8 not sure if there different speed wise but the tb-02 is easyer to drive which should make your lap times more consistant
