Wondering if there's a major difference between say a SOREX insert and a TAKE-OFF insert?

I believe if the control tyre for the states will be TAKE-OFF, does this mean the insert will be take-off (medium) as well? (or whatever is chosen?)

Who sells take-off medium inserts? (ryper?) Say, if I already have a pile of new take-off control tyres for an event, but need the controlled insert.. ?

I will have to update the website, it is controlled insert, tyre and rim according to the AARCMCC rules, so far we have take off CS32 tyres with Take Off medium inserts, yet to deside on a rim.

Take off tyres come with medium inserts

only in pairs. you can buy them in sets of four with no inserts at all.

a controlled rim is a bit rude.

Yeah, we only wanted to control tyres, but AARCMCC stepped in.

take off also sell premounts as well with rim, insert and tire all glued and ready to go.. this would be handy for peeps that suck at glueing tires and or events where organisers have to sit down and glue up a shite load of tire sets.

dave was saying at the drivers briefing yesterday that the pre-glued tyres dont stick to the rims/wheels very good.

any thoughts/comments on this gents?

the controling off stuff i think has gone over the top controlled tyres is ok i guess but controlled rim is just plain stupid.

might aswell make everyone run the exact same car with exact same gear.

some freedom should still be left to work on winning setups and tyres/rim choice.

i don;t see any probs with everyone running everything the same, because then it comes down to the driver.

kinda like formula ford

the pre-glue tyres are shite. They come unglued really quickly.

Can someone confirm for me. Now mine are the take off 27;s completely meeting all regulations etc etc. Can i use the exact same ones that I am using now for the states? or do i then have to buy a whole new set for the titles?

If i do have to can I buy them in the practice lap days or must a purchase i brand new set of tyres for qualifiers etc etc.

Reson is without me doing about 40 laps the rubbers are useless to me as i found out yesterday, i need time to wear them in if i have to buy a whole new set.

Fingers crosssed i can use the ones i have now.

Can someone answer these questions for me?

Nope, you buy the tyres, you take them to Ryper, you glue them, then you hand them in. They are returned to you on the first official practice day of the event, then handed in at the end of every day. That way, everyone is in the same boat. The tyre has to be a cs32, the insert has to be a take off medium insert, and the rim has to be speedmind. It;s all on the Ryper website and in the rules. If this is not clear call Dave at Ryper to explain.

You cannot buy pre-glued tyres with a speedmind rim. They do not exist.

Dan, realistically you want TWO full sets of tyres for the states for stock. more for mod. A set for most of your quals, and a set for maybe one/two quals and your finals...

the CS32s i glued up on sunday morning worked fine for me after a 5 to 10 lap scrub up..

I used FOUR sets of rubber tyres for the nationals last year. a bit over the top.. but not as crazy as some folk :)

I'll be sticking with two sets for the states, and one extra set (the ones i mounted up on sunday) for practice and club racing until then...

start putting some dosh aside. hahaha dammmn. at least your not up for a new servo.. farking.

only two sets allowed for qualifiers, plus one optional set for finals allowed, no more.
