how old would the car have 2 be ?? :)
James

80's for sure :)
5 years and beyond? lol dunno whats considered "vintage" in the RC world
the prob is, ull have to run them at vintage speed too...cos finding parts will be a pain in the ****!
well.....maybe TAMIYA is on to something with all the bloomin retro-redo's

I have a suggestion for the facility.
How about no smoking in the facility? (it clearly has signs that say no smoking). As usual people were smoking in the area last Friday. I think this should be for the entire facility from the caravan down (at the main track fence). Because no matter where a smoker stands (within the facility) it's still a problem, with wind, etc, etc.
I dont have any other suggestions, I think it's a great setup already :) way cool with the wheelchair access going in as well..!

ok,I have a Tamyia wild dagger would that type of truck be able 2 race ?? im not sure as 2 when it was released.
How many drivers have a vintage rides :)
Bowling Ball

1. Tamiya Retro Night - The released versions of the Frog, Hornet, etc etc
2. Endurance - Timed event, How long you can run and how many laps you can put in. Prize?
3. Tag - 3 cars on the track, one is "it", has a streamer. Other 2 cars attempt to touch the streamer with their vehicles. Point scored on how many times streamer touched withing 5 minutes (limited to 3 cars at a time to keep carnage at a minimum)
4. Stop/Start - Remember the silly game at the roller rink? Music stops, the driver must stop. Fail to stop and your outta there. Last man standing (or stopping) wins!
5. Want more?

Smoking.... Yep
As this is already a non smoking pit area ill make sure we make it an issue at the next drivers meeting. :)
BB has some good ideas there! i like the lot of them!!
i'd like to see a proper enduro event, with teams of 3 cars each. a 90 minute race. no limits to batterys, or motors, its a race to see which team can put down as many laps in 90 mins.
add some spice to it. only team members will marshall their own teams car. if the car comes off the track and the nearest person to it is from the other team, they dont touch it.
how's this sound?

GREAT IDEA'S
Keep em comming :)
Bowling Ball
12-01-2006, 01:00 PM
There is a WAORMA Team event. 4 car team.
I like the 90 minute idea but what about 45 minutes. Also, need normal marshells. (Well 2 shifts of marshells within the 45min). No lipos (emaxx on 2 x 4400mah 11.1volt lipos can last 15min +)
KingBob
12-01-2006, 01:00 PM
90 mins might be a bit excessive even for a team of 3 cars. Thats 30mins each, 5 or 6 packs which would all need to be precharged. Maybe a 30min enduro for a team of 3 cars, thats 10mineach/2packs.
James
12-01-2006, 01:06 PM
PRECC do an enduro, where the team is made up of 3 or 4 drivers, and each driver run's a certain class of motor.
eg, one driver must run a 540 motor, one runs a stock 27t motor, and one runs a 19t/mod motor. the team with the most laps wins. or something along these lines.. I guess it's easy to do this at PRECC because they are all touring cars.. hrmmm.
BB's idea's are mint. You could also do a 'relay' race.
Maybe also have actual marked out marshalling positions, as new people that come sometimes just dont know where to stand, etc.
Maybe even a small two minute run down of 'how to marshall' for new people? (spoken during drivers meeting). simple things like fixed the car that crashed first, distractions (phones), repairing cars while marshalling, etc..?

Love the idea of a enduro, the team race the year before last was awsome.
Im currently making a booklet to go out with our memberships on the art of marshalling :)
Well, as of the END of today, Im no longer a smoker! so the no smoking rule suits me just fine :P
Is the booklet specific to just the art of marshalling? Perhaps it should also inform about drivers etiquette as well? ie. Getting the marshall's attention..

What do you guys think about a sink to wash off the mud off your tires adjacent the pit area :)
slylux
12-01-2006, 06:35 PM
maybe not a sink .. but 2x little $89 air compressors would be awesome .. esp with the sunnyy dusty conditions , as for racing format we could run track backwards for a round to mix it up on fri night .. ( i hate it backwards , but its differnt ) also possibly a le'mans start , but might make it hard having 2 fat blokes running up the rosterum at the same time .. and we have to also think of our 2x wheelchair buddies .
i reckon that BB idea of music stops is awesome .. but also still a race and run transponders , so u have to be fast as well as quick to stop
$89 air compressors??? where?
slylux
12-01-2006, 08:38 PM
i think bunnings had em on special .. it was under $100 . maybe $95 or something .. they always on special .. somewhere

Hey Marty great idea the club would love to place an air line down the entire pit area but unfortunatly we are limited on the power ,30amps is ourer max current draw ,the lights alone are pulling 28.6amps.The only way to go is 3 phase and with that we are just opening a can of worms. The best option that i have seen down at the club was "Wild Bill" with a scuba tank of compressed air. :)
PomAbroad
13-01-2006, 09:48 AM
we used to do 2 hour off-road enduros in the uk. 4 drivers, relay style, come in the pits swap cars and drivers and go. Great fun. With the advance of spektrum less frquencies to worry about too.
Dazz 68
16-01-2006, 10:41 AM
Perhaps a knock out race ,10 starters last man round each lap is eliminated, one slip and youd be gone ,the caravan race sounds like fun along a similar theme a novelty race or a theme race, get anything that runs put an unusual body shell on it and race it,Ive got a toy lawn mower that would fit nicely,a mate has a Barbie Jeep ,heard BB say he could do a Simpson's theme.
Also the GMC shop at the Midland Military Markets has those cheap compressors for $60
Bowling Ball
16-01-2006, 11:13 AM
Dazz - I like the idea of the Lap eliminator and Theme nights. :D
more Ideas
1. Driving school - finer art of getting around the track
2. Maintenace school - RC Vehicle servicing:- how, how often, why, etc etc
3. Reverse track - Subject to lip on table top
4. Forward/Reverse - Another version of the music stop/go theme. When the music stops, you must reverse the direction on the track. Needs a little thought (could lead to carnage!)
5. Monster Air - Big air comp. Back flip comp. Super Man comp (muahahaa)

So it sounds like we need 2 have an event day (PRO AM) posibly a saturday where we are not governed by time as we are on a friday night.Witch could incorporate as many of the ideas as we posibly can.My personel favorate "BIG AIR" !yikes & of coarce the MT pull. The next commity meeting will be held @ the club on the 1/2/06 so keep the ideas flowing in . :)
James
16-01-2006, 01:06 PM
man there's definately some great ideas here.
I would like to see the track run in reverse like we used to.. it's different, it offers a change for absolutely no cost.
The only problem at this stage is the table top and back 'step up corner' need modifying to suit running in reverse. as since the last jump/step remodel, anything but an emaxx won't be able to get over it.

Last man(car) standing race??
variation on dazz's idea where u can pretty much run a HUGE field and the doesnt matter how many laps u do so long as ur the last car left running.
No marshals no nothing, if u roll it ur out, flat battery ur out... u get the idea. May be an idea for smaller nights where a lot of people hav left by the last round so instead of running 2 or 3 or 4 car races u run summin like this??
i dunno
definitely would love to see some reverse track racing again too, it was a good change from normal even if the track is a turd to drive in reverse.
what about a short track of some sorts?? is there anywhere we could cut across? like maybe after the doubles then straight to the tabletop?? would provide some pretty good air/crashes i suspect.
and this may be goin to far but i love destruction !super but what about some sort of demo derby? most guys seem to have some sort of hacker that they can take out and destroy......
HACKER: Tamiya Super Hornet with steel plated body and enough spikes to make Mad Max Proud

Deffo yes to regular events / Theme meets at West Coast!!

Would people like a notice board for things like for sale signs?
i have a timber halfpipe , we can have a backflip comps, or high jump comps.
Dazz 68
17-01-2006, 04:04 PM
For Sale board sounds good,I know a lot of the new people that come down are looking to upgrade gear and aren't aware of T/A. A saturdat night was mentioned to hold some of these events, perhaps we could hold some of these different race styles and novelty events on a saturday night promote it amongst other clubs and even the public and use it a club fundraiser, charging to participate and small prizes could be offered(softdrinks chockies ect) or club members may be able to donate small items to use as prizes .I like the demo derby idea, also road cars with rally tyres Ive been wondering how they would go

i heard that the onroad nitro guys are allowed to borrow keys for the club so they can go practice there. apparently they have a specfic time when they must pick it up and must return it. they must be a trusted paying member though i reckon this would be cool and give the track more use during the week..
Also folowed on from the notice board it would be cool to have an electric rc sale night where everyone comes together and sells what they want they had it also at the nitro onroad i believe.

maxd out the last man standing was great, its good to have a bit of fun as well as racing, looking forward to the caravan race this friday
is it worth an idea for tamiya classed vintage rides at westcoast?...as a special race :P?? using stock silver can etc etc..
KingBob
10-02-2006, 12:34 PM
If enough people have vintage rides they want to run, we'll run it.
man... love your work! !super
however, i wouldnt imagine it being an every fri night event..for one, broken parts will / may be difficult to find...(unless ur running them rereleases)
and TWO..fri night racing will go on too long!
maybe onece a month?

i will help out by altering the lip of the tabletop so we can run reverse whenever you like, dazza let me know.
KingBob
14-02-2006, 12:28 PM
We need a bit more clay to do that though, don't want to just remove that lip, would take the fun out of that jump.
i only need a small amount to broaden the back of the lip, wont disturb the front of the lip whatsoever. just to make it userfriendly to go backwards.
KingBob
14-02-2006, 03:09 PM
Yeah, can power along the table top, hit the lip and get some air :D
But yeah, only needs a little bit, alas theres none spare that i know of.
hey darren what if we get rid of those stupid moguls and use that clay to fini9sh the reverse lip and put some ripple like speed humps in that section instead of the moguls. then we got something different and we finish the tabletop. bueller.
i vote ripple over moguls :P
Boony
20-03-2006, 07:13 PM
i aggree, go the ripples over the moguls definatly
Boony
20-03-2006, 10:36 PM
the moguls r the little jumps after u go over the doubles, then the single, then go round the hairpin.
death to the moguls! harrrrrrgghh me harties
(lol sorry, hehe...Boony avatar made me do it...) !lmao
their the little jumps on either side of the track that jut want to flip your car also to get rid of that far step up cos everyone hits the second jump.
sorry if i hijacked your idea but i didnt read it anyway. yeah lets start a petition , death to the moguls. i dont think i have seen anyone take those things successfully lap after lap since they were built. lets use that clay somewhere better. i dont mind the far stepup but each to their own.
stone
23-05-2006, 08:03 PM
I agree with everyone else,DEATH TO THE MOGULS!!! stutter bumps would be cool, or maybe a small double close to turn 4 so you have to keep it lo and on the brakes when you land so as not to over shoot the turn.also berms are great fun.
How about big sweeping burm somewhere.

yes it is on, bring what every you have got. 7am start.
guys i was bored tonight and decided to see what some track modification would look like,
let me know what you think and i will change it as people suggest ideas.
Just to set the record,
1st jump: Small hill (mound)
2nd jump: set of small doubles.
3rd jump: Drop off approx 2ft
4th jump: Step up doubles that are currently their.
5th jump: Canyon jump (very popular in america where you jump over another section of the track.
6th jump: set of ripple jumps e.g. whoops's.
7th jump: Huge car breaking table top that is already there.
Yes it was a quick out of scale drawing, but let me know what you think

I have watched a video from the US where they have this type of jump. its AWESOME. cars are travelling on ground level while a car is "hopping" over it from above. its pretty awe-inspiring to watch! love the idea MJ.
and with this jump you could get some amazing photos KB

we used to run enduros at west coast years ago i dont know if things have changed that much but it was great to have a batt change and it seemed more like real racing, hope to see it up and running again even just a 15 min race would be great ....3 batt changes... pit crew of 1 person pit ,1 person driver? swap 1/2 time???? etc.......

We have been running specialty races lately, caravan race, last man standing, tag team etc, and an enduro has been discussed so we may bump it to the top of the list.
can some one please print off my suggested track design and take it on saturday morning and show to home ever may concern, i cant get there cos im working but hopefully will be there sunday.
I think it is a good plan with not muich work needed to have a much better track.
some please show this around because if it doesnt happen this busy bee its not goin to be for quite along while.

I dunno if this one has been suggested as yet but it came up in another thread - ban smoking while marshalling??
daztrac
19-06-2006, 07:14 PM
I agree that smoking should be banned. But you need somewhere for smokers to have a cancer stick, otherwise we risk upsetting members and losing them. I absolutely hate cigarettes, but we can't afford to lose members.
draw a one metre radius cicle and say this is the smoking area.
!lmao
mIKe-
19-06-2006, 07:49 PM
1 meter radius??? How about 1 meter diameter :P
Why not just say no smoking on premasis (sp?). This means smokers can still jsut walk outside the gates and have a smoke, but yet other people will be happy, and you might be able to get sponsership from QUIT.
KingBob
19-06-2006, 10:14 PM
Well the rule is people can't smoke past the entry to the pits, so by the fence is still ok. Maybe we'll have to say no smoking on the track too.
Maxd out
19-06-2006, 10:46 PM

19-06-2006, 11:05 PM
Serious guys, talk to quit. We get alot of sponsorship at BMX from putting a few QUIT signs around the place and having the place smoking free.
Could be an OK to get some money.
even if u dont get money out of it, least u might save someones life from having lung cancer when they're older, by forcing them not to smoke while at the track :P

29-06-2006, 10:07 PM
When racing starts up again I think we should have a night where we bring down classic/vintage rc cars if you have them for display. I've got one older car, although it isn't complete. Probably not a good idea to race them but if people wanted to that would be good to see too.

maybe we should do a saturday of fun events that r suggested in this thread say from 11am till 6 or 7pm.
i reckon it would great fun if you had to swap channel 1 and 2 in your reciever.
so you had to controll throttle with the wheel and steering with the trigger.
Also a backwards race where whole race you have to drive back wards.

Hi guys,,I mist the part where the sprinkler head got brocken tonight,I dont think I broke it but I did marsal infield most of the night.
Anyhow, what do you think about a shovel full of cement spread around each PVC cup,all smoothed off like?
Buggys would skip over them and the odd time a marshal treads on them wouldnt bother them.
Just my 2 cents worth...hey I even do it!
