more. note one of the cap's was somehow dislodged from the motor, either from a hard knock, or perhaps it got so hot it just somhow got itself unstuck (unlikely)

check this out. it's had enough!!
Strange. I've never ever had an overheating problem with this motor/gears before. ever. I'm thinking it must be the result of the cap coming off the terminal.
Last week the diode that was on the motor came off the same way.
I'm wondering if this motor can be repaired. it's a good motor. Need new bell end, and perhaps comutator lathed, new bushes.

what are your thoughts on buying a new motor? something fresh?

could do that. but this is a pretty good motor with low run time on it. If i can lathe the comutator and get a new bell end, that'd be tops.
but then after doing all the work and putting in new brushes, it's gonna probably be worth a whole new motor.
Might see what kind of motor's the locals are running on the track during a race day soon...
