View Full Version : West Coast Driver Pointscore Rankings

Guys, for those west coast members, this is the current tally of drivers points for club members. I'll update this every week as appropriate.
This is how points are scored: Coming 1st gets you 10 points. Coming 2nd gets you 9... coming 10th gets you 1 point. This only applies to the A class if there is an A and B in truck for example. B class earns you no points.
Points are only earned from the FINAL race of the night, the first three are only qualifiers. To earn the points you must at least do a lap. Those who register no laps in the final get no points.
Any questions?
[ Edited ]
so...if u race in 2 classes.... (are u allowed to race in 2 classes???) ie. 2wd and 4wd.. and come first for both... does that mean u get 2 sets of points for the night?

Hmm, lets say... no :D
Just one set of points, and you have to nominate which class before racing :D

A significant number of drivers don't come to TA, so I usually just post the scores at the track.

KB, does this list include any of the (now not so new) new recent member sign ups??
Good on ya for posting up the latest so far mate.
People..not getting on my high horse or anything..
but sometimes we take the little things for granted like people's dedication to the hobby, their precious time to collate and dissaminate interesting / useful information and general contribution to the site....
so appreciate the free info where you can ;)
peace!
sayin that, id be nice to see all the new WC members' names up there as well, KB, LMK if I can help on my end ;)

That list is most, but not all WC members.
We've had a few sign up over the last few weeks that I haven't gotten details of from the treasurer. But we have a committee meeting wednesday so shall have an updated list then. I'll add and backdate those people when I get the list.

i reckon its unfair to ppl like james bostock,my dad and stoney who arent that far out of the ten but race every week at WC.it should be imo that u have to race a certain amount of friday nights to be elgible because 3 or 4 drivers in the top ten got all there opoints from IC's.then the ppl who cant or didnt go to any IC's r missing out.just my 2 cents

Boony I think part of the reason for the double (or set extra) points for competing at the IC's is to encourage drivers to run in them; particularly the novices (as there is no novice class?) and probably to some degree reward them for doing so. Having said that, I think most racers would be eyeing off IC's as a must run anyways - assuming they can make it.
I think if you are consistent enough (and I could be wrong cos, hey, who's got the time to sit down and do the math??!) at club level without running at any or all of the IC's, you're still a chance to make an impact? Anyone care to comment on that??
Maybe the club could look at introducing clubman awards for each class if they don't have them already? That is, awards purely based on club results. I could see issues there already though - cost of trophies etc. Maybe look at reducing the amount of points for competing in the IC's?
Yeah, dunno man?! Pro's and con's... pro's and con's :D

in another sense fleggy.if someone is gonna run an IC they will run it.i think its a gr8 system but if its gonna be done next year it should not include ICs but only club meets.this way u get more drivers down at west coast on a friday nite.thats the only way that i see it.then atleast everybody has an equal chance.
Boon, I can fully appreciate your point of view...
however, I have to play the devils advocate here so here's the flipside:
what about the drivers that are currently on the scoreboard who hardly race on a Fri night, but compete in every interclub? (not mentioning names)
If you compare the number of opportunities to run on a friday night versus the amount of IC we have in one year, you will see that it CAN be a fair system.
If drivers decide to only rock up on IC days becuase they think they can hit the scoreboard with their pole positions wins...then they are bloody good drivers, and deserve the points. But the disadvantage for them is if they dont rock up Fri nights, they will easily lose their scores to others that run every Friday.
Also, not all IC racers get the points... some might be racing, but they can also come dead last.. so not all racers that run at IC gets points..
Savvy?

in another sense, theres been atleast 5 IC's,and 2 50 point oppurtunitys.that means if they raced a;ll of those theve got 200 odd points and they mite have raced a cple of friday nites b4 the maitence.uv also gotta remeber that weve only had 10 or 11 race meets at WC on a friday nite.also alex its 20 points staright out as long as they participqated in the IC...?????
to be honest im not too sure how all the points system works other than what KB wrote in the beginning of the thread.
im nowhere when it comes to IC's so I dont even think about it.
I just look at the point score and go "oooooooh"
;)
Boony
13-11-2006, 08:56 PM
im preety sure(kb help us here)that an-
IC=20 points for running
states + nats=50 points(not mattering how many classes u run)
fri nites= 10 points to 1 point from 1st to 10th in the final/finals.only for 'a' finalists

There have been 19 friday night races that points were scored at so far (we didn't start scoring till jan 20th to let people join up etc).
There have been 2 50 point events (states/nats)
There have been 4 20 point events so far, 1 more to go.
The better you are and the more you run, the more points you get. Thats why it's a driver pointscore to reward the driver(s) of the year. It rewards those who ran the most with the best results.
19! wow.. i didnt realise we had that many meets this year!
so does WC have an official number of race meets per year?
If we know the exact race (club AND big meets) calender and know a maximum score one can possibly get in one season..that might provide some motivation for people to rock up and race ;)
no. the number of meets per year is determined by the weather.
still, dont see no reason why we shouldnt have a scheduled race calender where everyone knows how many races are there in one season.. and the dates for those race meets..
i can understand that the weather plays a big factor for offroads.. so if it rains out, cancel the pre-scheduled meet.. no biggy.
Personally Id like to see an online race calender planned for WC next season. with "forecasts" for race meets.
my 2 cents

just worked it out from last nites points
alex yapp= 337
michael wallace = 334
matt webb = 328
chris brown = 303
david chang = 279
todd meakins = 274
dennis page = 271
matt apeldoorn = 269
darren landwehr = 264
matt riley = 256
nathan hodder = 242
that is 11 ppl but that is most likely who will be in the top 10.i dont think anyone below nath can make the ten....
