O.K. Well i thought it would be better if this subject had it's own thread...

NITRO BASHERS - The Movie

A few of us have decided to make a professional movie with our monster trucks doing extreme stuff from jumping to hill climbing..

We have gone through alot of the production costs, and now feel comfortable in doing this movie and making it a salable movie.

We will be keeping cost's to a minimal, as this is our first movie and we DONT want to take to many risks...

And if we end up making no money out of this - well we gave it our best shot, and had a great time doing this. :)

Just remember to enjoy yourselves!!, and don't take this to serious, yet keep it as a professional attempt at trying to make something we all love to enjoy and to watch on the screen....

Any profit made from this movie will go to everyone involved in a percentage of what you did to help out...

So if you have put ya own money into the project, you should be getting a larger share of any profits.

If you have helped out in equipment and time behind the scenes, you will be getting a larger share in the profits.

If any profit is made, some of it will go towards the new web site MONSTER BASHERS, which will be online any day now.

The money in the bashers site will be used to pay for the site and for prize give aways to members.

Stunt drivers who participate in the filming will be rewarded in some of the profits, in a way of gift vouchers from hobby stores or ebay..

So we will try to make this work and do it the right way, and to see if we can make any money in the NEW CRAZE OF REMOTE CONTROL NITRO TRUCK EXTREME BASHING, that is sweeping the world by storm....

And just remember we are doing this for fun, so make sure you keep enjoying yourselves on these bashdays please !!!

LISTED BELOW ARE THE BREAK DOWNS ON COSTS INVOLVED that we see so far :

1) Professional camera use - to be determined on a loan basis from slappy and the hourly rate of the use with it.

2) Your own camera work - Will be worked out as a larger player in helping make the movie, and a percentage worked out for your use of your own camera, and how much footage we use with your camera.

So make sure you have that camera ready with lens cap off :)

3) Cover and DVD artwork - again to be determined by slappy on a hourly rate.

4) Editing - Use of a editing studio and costs of using one to finalise the movie.

5) DVD Manufacturing - The cost to make the dvd from been professionally burnt to packaging with printed dvd.

6) Cover Art Work for dvd - the cost of that from the printers.

7) Copyright - No costs here if we use all are own footage. we can copyright this ourselves.

8) Music Royalties - We have decided the best way for this to keep costs down, is to use royalty free music and copyright free music. more to follow on this subject...

9) Classifcation - $700 for a 1 hour flim.

10) Sales and Marketing - i will be using my experience in this field to maximism the way we sell and market the product.

Some of these cost like classication/manufacturing will be the last cost's involved, and i will be looking at picking this up for a larger slice in the pie unless others want to pitch in :)

Wait to we see a sample of the movie after editing to determand what you think, and if you think we have a winning movie and a salable movie....

Please feel free to mention anything we have missed in all of the above, as all of us do work full time jobs ( well i hope so ), and we are doing this on the side outside of normal working hours.

Any ideas for the movie can be posted here for others to comment on.

Yes ned, just keep ya footage in high quality dvd format..

And YES are video will be based on every other monster truck video that comes out in the market in the near future.. a EXTREME JUMPING VID.. No different than the 500 motorcross extreme videos and bmx/skate videos out there in the market today.

As for the xxx movie.. A good movie.. bit to much bling bling for me, and not enough large jumping in the vid.. half way thru the xxx vid it got a bit boring, watching the same old same old stuff of driving around in parks and on snow or mud..

And dont forget plenty of bling :)

We will be using alot of different methods tho.. We are not there to show bling trucks and driving around some flat surface park or curb jumping..

And we will be using the same theme that most extreme sports video use, Fast heavy music and some serious jumping !!! with a bit of comedy inbetween :)

A few people have said that are backyard vids are far more exciting than the 39 bucks they payed for the xxx vid..lol

One reason why so many decided let's give it a shot, and make something for our enjoyment and maybe others.. If we are going to destory our trucks every week as we do.. might as well make a professional vid of it :)

So from quarry hill climbing to alot of backflips to massive air to skate parks to bmx parks and straight out bashing is our aim... Half those trucks in xxx were to bling bling to jump

Anyone can be in the vid m8 :) And yes this thing will take time.. and we are in no rush to finish it soon.. if it takes 4 weeks or if it takes 6 months who knows...

And all the footage will be stored on dvds as masters until we get to edit them..

And some new bash spots will be announced as when we need new locations for filming... i got a few new spots up my sleeve to show ya all :)

BZZZ! Not in DVD Format. Stored on DVD in DV-AVI files, you will only get ~ 20minutes of footage on a DVD in this format but it is of the highest quality. (around 16m/bit a sec)

Storing in DVD Format will degrade the footage. Given that most DVD-R component recorders are set to around 3m/bit thats a BIG drop in quality.

As to the XXX Main videos - Don't judge them all by the XXX Monster_X you have watched, that DVD isn't as good as XXX Main 2

Cmon BB have you been sleeping at the last few bashes mate 'Slylux' goes twice as hard as any of them vids I just watched.....I have watched a few of them SMF vids now and there is only a couple of killer things like jumping cars and other than thet they are quite tame IMO. Unless I have radomly selected the tame videos. This one I just watched they run up down a track with tree roots on it WOOOO HOOO I'm excited!! Then they jumped cars that was the only good part(that part was really good)

Yes they do some sick stuff but not all of it is killer stunts....the other mob I ain't heard of them but I am looking now. I have seen people doing a lot sicker stuff on LST Central.

I have a barbie truck on the way. Will post pics when its all built. Also working on building a truck mount for a small mini dv camera. Something that sheilds the camera completely from mud so that we can use it as a chase camera to follow the trucks around at truck height. Also will demostrate the spped of these things. Id love to drive two trucks through a city mall with chase camera and get peoples reactions etc. Evil plans to be released at a later date.

Since this is a low budget film compared to xxx main, we should be able to push it through a bit quicker..

I think we should include some weird competitions like..

Longest distance travelled on the sides of ur wheels.
Best Wheel stand front/rear.
Smoothest landing.
Messiest Landing.
Best recovery of a messy situation.
Most damage(i'm not encourage you to damage your vehicles here).
Most daring stunt award(same condition as above).

I think it may also be good to include maybe a tuning guide at the very end of the video. Some handy hints for maintanance and repairs etc. Possibly include some recommended upgrades(bang for your buck, and most handy upgrade etc.).

i say do a speed run through a shopping centre. have it running, run in. drive through following it and then out again into a waiting car and leave.

we did that on our fast fiddys for a move were making. there was 5 of us and we each had american president masks on (i was nixon). we rode down the ramps off the trailer and just rode through the shopping centre...did a lap and roade out the door. the car did a lap of the shopping centre and was waiting out front for us. drove up on the ramp and we took off. quite well executed and looks great on film. we had a few guys stationed around the centre with cameras and also had one mounted on a bike.

anyway. how do i know what quality my camera is working at? im only using a 5.1mp sony digi cam so i dont know what bit rate its at.

With the chicks and stuff... something i have been looking at... It might change the classification of the movie, and what rating they would give it i guess depends on how much tits and arse is showing.. but we need to keep it out of the (R) RATED classification, or it will be limited to what retail stores will sell it.. I.E. Big - w and so forth might not take it due to the rating of (R) , (MA) It should fall under if just chicks in g - strings...

We need to get this right - as if it comes back as (R) RATED from the classication board, we are stuck there.
Unless you pay another $700 and edit it and re submit it to the board..

Trust me, i use to watch pornos after been edited for my work ( and get payed for it !lmao ) to make sure they fell into the (R) rating, and not the (xxx) rating before they went to the classication board to get the (R) rating :)

AS for the script, I have made some notes of what everyone has sujested and will be putting up here the ideas and bashspots and so forth...

Information on filming

For now we will be just hitting different bash spots around perth each week filming...

We will keep making different days from sat. or sun. each week in a rotation of different

spots. So places like south guildford bmx track will be be hit a few times on a sat. and

then a sun on different weeks through out the filming...

This way if ya miss a day at a bash spot due to waiting on spare parts or a life outside

of r/c, we will be hitting that same bashspot again in say 8 - 10 weeks time. Also this

will help in making sure everyone gets to launch there trucks at these spots, and we get

it on film.

FILMING :

Best bet on the filming is 2 trucks at a time go out and hit the jumps, while the rest of

us film. We should have a minimum of 2 cameras at each bashday, so we can get different

angles of the same truck jump. Cameras to be set up before trucks are ready and we all

decide which angles will work best on the jump....

If 1 of the 2 trucks are been repaired we will send out someone else to replace the

broken truck or trucks...

We need to keep this in a orderly fashion to make sure we don't have 10 trucks racing

around and one camera man...

Any changes to the above method will be done if we see any better ways in doing the

filming.

So remember to wait for the cameras are set to roll before busting the huge air, we don't

want to hear "did ya get that on film" when we are not ready. And then we didn't get it

on film while your sitting there with you truck cut in half from the massive air jump..

hehe

Action filming will be the priority for now... all comedy scenes will be left until the

end of the jumping scenes of filming...

That way we can just concentrate on one thing at a time, and not have these jumping and

then barbie doll filming and then jumping....

All footage to be stored and dated...this is essential to do if we are using different

camera angels of the same jump...

All film copies that are made give to slappy/nitro or me to hold onto.

Theme :

I have been thinking on the same lines as what marty said in another post.. I would like

to see chicks and truck jumps.. We will get back to the chicks later, as this is just

getting non copyright footage a girls and can be edited inbetween the jump scenes...i.e.

first song and jumping then a few flashes of chicks, and then more jumping all in the

same song... this will work for the first song and near the end of the movie..

I would like to see at the start of the first song each truck close up and name of owner,

and then footage of them doing different jumps.. Then move onto the next driver and so

forth..

Pit of death bash spot might be able to be used as it's own scene for a song, with the

killer name of the place and sheer fun in watching the trucks there...

The comedy side i was thinking it should be at the start of the film and then switching

back to the comedy scenes thru out the film.. ( inbetween certain songs )

I reckon the G I Joe theme will work well, Like at the start of the film we see G I Joe

going to hes truck.. and then driving of causing all sorts of havoc. *( like the barbie

kidnapping part ) and then roll into the first song and us jumping..

Then we can keep switching back to the comedy scenes after the first or 2nd song, and

have another scene of G I Joe doing some other crazy stuff... ( like slappy picnic kaos )

Also we will do voice overs for G I Joe and ken and barbie - anyone good at this put up

ya hand please :) and also sound effects of a v8 for the truck can be used..

I reckon we need a identity body shell for G I Joe.. I have a new truck body shell here

thats black with flames and jack dainels stickers on it that might be the look.. I will

post up a pic of the shell after this thread.... We want to have G I Joe's truck look

different to all OUR trucks bashing in the movie that we will be using !!!...

Spud run - will have to get someone else to explain this, as i haven't seen it..

something that might work well half way thru the movie..

Some other ideas like marty said with a mini losi and a nitro truck doing stuff we can

use G I Joe and some other star like a lego man or something that will go with a mini

losi...

Just take note we will get back to all these comedy and non jumping scenes in a few

months after we finished the jumping filming...

Bashspots :

We will be rotating these from north to south of the river and hitting the same spots

twice or even 3 or 4 times until we have enough good footage at that location..

Bash spots listed so far are :

North of the river

Pit of Death - We have all seen it, its bad its mean its death for ya truck on

some killer drop of jumps. Also there is a massive pile of black

dirt in the middle of the pit, you can drive up there, and we will

have to launch someones truck of there as its over 100 foot down

drop... hehe I got some photos and it has a perfect run up :)


Guildford bmx track - Again we have been there and will have to hit there a few times

more...


wanneroo bmx track - we can get the key to this track.. only one massive run up to a

big ramp.. so still good...


Ellenbrooke area - Heaps of cleared land areas and so forth.. NitroLSt to keep

posting us pics to see whats on offer out there...


Carine open park - And carine high school - both have two huge and very steep grass

hills for air and distance jumping when ramps are set up... i will

get some photos when we hit those spots... WE ARE TALKING VERY BIG

DISTANCE JUMPS HERE !!!


Iluka/carrinbine way - Skate park - huge skate pool and some concert jumps - again photos

before we hit these spots will be posted. Rail grinding i hear you

can do here...


Nth wanneroo quarry - A little hidden secret that motorcross guys love... Will mention

more later about this spot...


South of the river


Coburn bmx track - We have been there once before - it's the spearwood/bibra lake bmx

track.. also it has some huge sand hills one block away we can

check out with a sand quarry that i dont think is fenced off..


Slyluxs mx track - As posted by marty on here the pics...


Bullcreek bmx track - I have photos of this sopt and will post them again when we hit

this spot..




We need a few more places south of the river - so if you live south please have ya camera

with ya and post some spots up here for us to see...

Jumping :

Well you will have to really launch ya truck to make the movie, it's going to be costly

doing this... but hey !!! all for the cameras :) So don't expect to just do some little

jumps and think your gods gift to R/C Monster bashing and expect to make the film..

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED !!!!

Hopefully it's just not slylux who makes the film.. !lmao

Also make sure you make the jump on all 4 wheels.. - As you don't want to be the *STAR*

in the crashes section of the movie, that section of the movie will show just crashes and

more crashes and some stylish crashes.... lol

Jumps:

We have some portable distance jumps and that's it so far.. we will use these at

certain spots to boost bmx jumps, or use them for the carine idea of 50 foot distance

jumps while going down hill...

We need to make one massive ramp tho... I have a large trailer that can be use to move

this around.. All we need is some wood.. nitrolst's m8 can make it, unless your a

carpenter on here... so any thoughts on the wood ??? maybe we should get nitrolst to

speak to he's friend and work out what we need and see what the costs are involed..

This large ramp is a priority, as we need it for all the bash spots and need it now..

Also we can jump over cars and other stuff with it :)

The House jump

Well like i said before... it's been offered... who's going to be the star :)

Since we are using buggies in the movie... i think it might need a name change from

MOSTER BASHERS to somethig else... we can all post up some movie names and have a vote

on this later... :)

I know a professional steadicam operator, costs 500 a day plus camera hire and insurance, but he does use a $120,000 digi beta cam and full steadi cam rig. more for high def digital beta. Maybe on the next film...

And some huge air jumps and i mean huge air jumps up there as well from my down hill mountain biking days......we could do the hloe bbq thing up there ........

about ramps and locations. i have a few mates in perth with fast fiddy compounds. 8-9 jumps and kickers in there backyards setup for fast 50's. ill see if we can get a day in there sometime cause theres alot of room and the jumps are well cared for and have ggreat lips.

the ramps, once again a mate in perth i can talk to. has a few wooden ramps for BMX and like and so ill talk to him.

Sounds good all... We do need that larger ramp on all the bashdays... something that will fit into my trailer and easy for all of us to carry... Also the ramp needs to be wide enough for the little trucks to have no problems with at full speed...

We will just have to work out who does the jumping of the home.. It would be good to see one of us doing something crazy and different to everyone else in the video..

I.E. = 1 housejumper here then 1 pit of death mountain jumper here and so forth...

Also we should leave these crazy jumps to maybe last on the filming to...

We have just got to make a list of who's doing which of the crazy jumps....

so far we have :

1) bazzs house jump
2) pit of death black hill jump
3) car jump
4) over the road jump

I want to do the black quarry jump :)

So we need at least one of these per driver.. any takers on the house and car jumps, or any idea's on what crazy suicide jump you would like to do ???

Well i have changed the heading of this thread from MONSTER BASHERS To NITRO BASHERS, as the name monster bashers is a american web site for real monster trucks and nitro r/c ones..

So NITRO BASHERS is the new name as we are doing the web site on this name..

I have just registered the name nitrobashers.com, and i have just signed up the host..

We will keep ya posted as soon as we transfer the new web site been built over to nitrobashers.com...

yep im back to work on the sun 26th but ANY Friday or Saturday is good for me, if there gonna be any bash on a saturday (or sunday if im off) i'll be there either as stunt driver or camera man for our new DVD. oh yeah but the following sunday (5th march) im off again too due to monday being a public hol.
btw: for all the guys i bashed with in ellenbrooke last sat, i found out why my .28 wouldnt run very well at the end of the day, my glow plug is shitters, was same as yours Pete would only glow half way down :) just took my brand new enya3 outa my raptor 50 helicopter :) lol all good again.

You guys have problems with engines, my truck is in two pieces :( after the weekend. Now worries though, farely cheap to fix. Propane - I realised that the "Super Duty" aluminium bulkheads is too strong for the rest of the car, thats why it rips from the body each time. Gonna get a aluminium skidplate, and revert back to the old nylon/plastic bulkheads. They can flex a bit under pressure and wont rip the screws out the chasses. That or I would have to go full aluminium on everything & a new chassis. (Works out to $399, so first option then)

i run OS 8's in the savy. sick of paying $8 a plug but buying over seas dosent turn out much cheaper.

im deffo able to come out for a bash saturday the 4th march and maybe even sunday morning 5th of march. im staying two shops away from PHC so either north or south of river is fine is fine.

Bratt01 i had the same problem when i used alloy shock towers - bent the bottom chassy plates and pulled screws... now back on plastic and all is holding up fine here :)

i use plastic bulk heads to... one has a small crack but there cheap so i always carry a few spares of them :)
