I purchased a traxxas stadium maxx 3 weeks ago and my brother bought a traxxas jato 2 weeks ago.
So far I have used my monster truck 5 times and every single time it has broken without fail.
Traxxas is very poorly manufactured, considering the amount of money I spent on it.

I have broken so far:
Front and Rear Bulkheads Part No 4929, 4930(twice, between the suspension and the chassis)
Broken the rear skid plate Part No 4938
Fuel Tank split at the seam
Front bumper broke
Broke Steering draglink connector Part No 2742
Bent steering draglink Part No5138
Suspension does not rebound to original position
Body posts have bent
Locknuts for the wheels undo themselves
Engine top shield fell off
Starter motor occasionally stops working with a fully charged starter

All these damaged parts have been damaged on almost level gravel, small jumps, or sand.

My brother car on the fourth tank of fuel blew a hole in the exhaust seam.

Has anyone else had problems with the traxxas gear. What are some ways to improve the stegth of the body to stop the bulkheads from keep breakin?

sounds like you need to buy some hop ups for it...

also it sounds expensive to make it into a strong truck there m8 :(

Or trade it in for a real truck like a savy or LST..

Oldest trick in the book isn't it? Get people enthused, sell them a cheap brand, wait for the ensuing frustration at breakages / handling / whatever then UPSELL UPSELL!!

Scour the net for some aftermarket alloy parts, but remember if you're new to RC breakages are inevitable, and as your driving improves, the breakages will be less frequent.

"Locknuts for the wheels undo themselves" - Typical of a mild steel locknut with little Nyloc. Get the 5mm HPI Wheel nuts (Savage), make sure they are all standard righthand thread

"Front bumper broke" - You hit something HARD

"Body posts have bent" - They are plastic - you've landed hard on your roof. Try and get them down low, they won't bend as much

"Starter motor occasionally stops working with a fully charged starter" - Not 100% sure here, need to see what you mean.

"Fuel Tank split at the seam
Broke Steering draglink connector
Bent steering draglink" - I think you may have hit something HARD

"Suspension does not rebound to original position" - Again, thisd is a result of a crash. The causes of this can be a bent shock shaft or a bent hinge pin.

The Maxx series is soft out of the box - mainly the bulkheads. I race an E-Maxx like some of the guys here. We do approxx 6 - 8M of air over a table top each lap, but our truck have been fully respeced for racing.

Oh yeah don't get me wrong, spec up the Traxxas Emaxx the right way and it becomes one heck of a machine!

I didnt hit anything for the fuel tank to split, the suspension already sagged when i bought it out of the box. Alloy parts are so expensive! The first day i bought it, the hobby shop gave me cheap batteries as a freebie and the throttle stuck on and hit a tree breaking the rear bulkheads.
Are alloy parts any stronger than the plastic?

what are some home made ideas to stregthen it up a bit?
I have made skid plates and a trans plate for the bottom, but is there anything else to stop the bulkheads from breaking all the time?

Suspension - In the box you got some shock adjusting clips. You clip them on and this will raise your ride hieght. The Manual will give you a run down of ride hieght.

Alum is alot stronger than plastic. You will be alot better off with alum bulkies.

All truck have their flaws regardless of what people preach to you. Stick with it and you should be able to get a smile back on your face.

And how much did you spend on the e-maxx BB.. $5000 +

I would hope it doesn't break for that price !!!

Yes i know that and it makes no difference besides making it stronger but it still doesnt rebound like the front. it stops about halfway.

Check your hinge pins, shock shafts. they might be binding. Even have a look at the half shafts (axle shafts) they maybe binding.

When in doubt - pull it down and inspect the components

the ezy start system is known to fail very reguraly.

and it shouldnt matter if you are a newb to this...the truck shouldnt break that much.

ask propane or BB. im a newb with a savy 25 and when we went to spearwood BMX for a bash i was going hard and crashing heaps and apart from batts dying i was the last one standing.

have you called Traxxas for warranty?

Explain to me in detail where are you running your maxx ??

Traxxas out of the box to me is no where near bullet proof ,i personally would have spent over $10K on RD on my truck :@

In saying that ,save up & buy the Unlimited Enginering hop ups for your maxx.

That last paragraph will save you at least $8k :)

So lets get down to the buisness end of the deal, those bulks that your runing throw them away & buy your self the GA bulks $100usd on special now or if you can afford them the VBS system from UE & change all your stainless hinge pins & turnbuckels to Titanium.

Your suspention needs to be rebuilt to find out y its drooping ,is there any oil in those shocks ??

:) :) :)

a truck that takes several thousand dollars to get it to a good basher doesn't make it sound very good at all....

probably have more fun investing that money into a real car...

Sounds like it JD.... Buy a monster truck and pull it to bits, then throw all the bits in the bin, and then buy all new hop ups and build a whole new truck... LOL

Or even better, sell me the driveshafts and other bits for dirt cheap, so I can use them in my TLT rock crawler ;)

I have never had any problems with Traxxas if used correctly, we do back flips front flips and miss them half the time with my brothers and have never had anything break so you must be exceptionally hard on it to break all that.

I have been running it at the lesmurdie bmx track. Mostly one jump were u cant stuff up the landing but yet the car still breaks.
The shocks have oil in them and are how they left the factory.
You can forget about spendind 1k on it if everytime i use it it breaks.
And no i am not hard on it, i have only hit seconds gear about 10 times out of the 5 litres of fuel i have used

WC wheres/wats that.??
Good news. i have used my s-max 4 times now all at bmx tracks and havent broken anything yet.(touch wood). Accomplished a big triple jump at full 2nd speed.
Bad news. Spent all of sat goin 2 hobby shops to look for a jato rear suspension mount. Got 1 finally after 3 hours of walkin around in the city. 2nd jump it did it broke. $15 well spent for 20 mins of so called fun.

wash your mouths out with soap you negative heathens. s-maximus try to not put it on its lid for starters, nothing should break if you dont hit anything.believe it , you dont have to spend big bucks to get a reliable maxx. i raced a basicly stock emaxx besides the carbon fibre chassis, for 18 months with no real reliability problems. so you dont have to spend big bucks just keep it off its lid.
