Looks like it will be released very soon. Yokomo Website says to TBA on the pricing. Does anyone have any idea what these things are likely to be worth when they are released?

Looks very bling, but some of those belts and gears look mighty exposed for an offroader!

Most R/C companies will be releasing new off road cars soon as the worlds are in to be held in china or Japan giving Manufacturers like Tamiya Kyosho Yokomo etc a distinct advantage over US based off road brand Losi and Associated

Isn't there a rumour of Tamiya bringing out a bling offroad 4wd?

T4Trasher

i think that will be the case i doubt it will be released though it will be a worlds on spec

James

i dont see how having a worlds event in china or japan gives an advantage to a chinese or japanese r/c manufacturer.

the best drivers in the world will go, with whatever they are sponsored to drive, and win. best driver wins. not best manufacturer.

XRAY are made in slovakia, they took 12 podium finishes and totally cleaned up at the Snowbird 2006 event, in America.

The new yokomo car (the on in the pics) is a professional r/c kit, they dont need to cover the belt drive system because if crap gets in there and the driveline needs a rebuild after every race or two, thats just not a problem for a pro team driver.

the new yokomo in my opinion doesnt look like a car for your joe bloggs club racer... but who knows :) the body shell looks like it secures fairly well around the chassis, perhaps resulting in lesser muck in there...

it looks like another bloody onroad car thats been converted to 4wd buggy

god lord, when? when are we going to see some 4wd buggys built from the ground up designed for dirt, bumps and jumps?

JD

The open belt design works very well HPI ran with this type of drive train in 1 of there 4WD RS4MT. :)

James it will me a difference because of track surface etc they will have a lot more testing time on similar tracks to the one used at the worlds compared to the Amdericans. Asphaplt doesn't change a great deal but dirt does a lot!

James

Rob, I'm not sure I follow you. i think your saying the home country will have an advantage because they will be able to have more time to run a surface they are accustomed to?

I would think the best drivers in the world dont give a crap what surface they're going to race on, because they have that much experience that they've already raced on every type of surface.. Who knows.. this is a subject best left for another discussion I think... :) back to the yokomo chat.

I like the airduct designed into the body to cool the motor.

with that front mounted motor looks like the power bias is more to the front might be harder to power slide into turns also the belt drive would prolly snap soon as a rock gets in. bout as bling as most 1/8ths but i doubt it'll be as reliable

Ray Munday rane a shumacher Cat 300 belt drive car for about three years with no maintenance at all and never had problems with belts. If you use it on a track only you will be fine just for bashing you will have problems though

Alex

well.. just to revive a semi old thread...saw one (or 2? cant remember) running at the Nats thats just been. it handled real nice! and yes its blinged o right... all carbon fibre goodness!!

Battery cars would be pretty boring to "bash".

Alex
21-04-2006, 12:37 PM
who said anything bout bashing ?

These buggies are designed to to be racing Thoroughbreds. !burnout

Marzz

"just for bashing you will have problems though"

Electric/4WD/Offroad - what a shitty mix.

James
21-04-2006, 02:57 PM
each to their own, i reckon elec 4wd racing is awesome :)

Alex
21-04-2006, 03:04 PM
marzz..i think the comment T4Trasher made was the same as my point. These cars are designed for racing...with straightline speeds through bumpy tracks, precision driving and clean lines / jumps in mind.

If anyone wants to just bash, then make an educated decision and buy a bashing vehicle with shit loads of suspension and ride height.

don't just wash it off because it uses batteries.. both sides got their pros and cons.

Alex
21-04-2006, 03:08 PM
emaxx's are electric, 4wd and classed as offroaders..

Just ask any owners of the hopped up versions of these bad boys and Im sure they wont say its shitty or boring for bashing purposes.

I saw one yesterday ass new and bling fresh.................VERY SHMICK looking piece of equipment. I think they may become very popular compared to the price of a BJ. If you didnt know any better you was say they were an onroad car looking at all the bling!

James
26-04-2006, 02:08 PM
$800'ish for a kit.

I built 2 a couple days ago for someone. They would have to be one of the first few in the country. They are very easy to build.

If I had to pick something i didn't like about it, then it would have to be the price and the wheel bearing size. They are a bit small imo, but having said that the xxx4 bearings are roughly the same size. Also I race on road with a xray which has big arse 1510 wheel bearings.

KingBob

Certainly looks the part, it's certainly the top of my 4wd shortlist anyway. I just don't like the saddle packs.

Alex
27-04-2006, 02:53 PM
mate... im sure if ones rich enough to grab the yok, one'd be flushed enough to add 6 x saddle packs to boot! and a new speedy And a new motor And a new servo !lol

or...chances are all the above will be GIVEN to them under sponsorship !lmao

KingBob
27-04-2006, 02:57 PM
be nice to use a 6cell side by side though... then i could strap in my Orion LiPo :D

Alex
27-04-2006, 03:24 PM
cut the lipo up in half and hot glue it !lol !silly

KingBob
27-04-2006, 03:34 PM
haha, wonder how long till they release a saddle type lipo pack (orion style), enough cars use that format.
