Ryper Hobbies "540" Classic - Onroad

The Ryper Hobbies "540" Classic will be held on the 21st of May, 2006. The following rules apply:

• Silvercan or Tamiya Sports Tuned Motors Only
• Any chassis type (1:10 Touring, Mini etc)
• Open Tyres (Foam or Rubber)

Format will be four qualifiers and three finals with the best two finals counting. The entry fee for the event will be $15, with trophies being awarded.

More information will follow closer to the date.

I'd say BYO motor, or pre-organise for Dave (ryper) to get one in for you. There's usually some avail in the shop but who knows how long they will last..

Think I might have to run my super duper 'clod buster' silver can... it's !hulk styles!

Should be interesting to see what some of the "better" drivers get as far as laps go. I know Dave drove Laura Fleming's TT-01 a couple of weeks back and did 16 with no tuning, so I'd guess high 17's to low 18's are possible?

I did a bee'z dick off 16 with my mini. which handles like poo and had a silver can in it.

I'll be aiming for consistant 17's. 18's might be possible, really got no idea. I've never run a 540 in a good TC.

I might run a silver can this weekend in my XRAY and see what happens. :)

I did a 17 a few weeks ago, so I'd say you;d run at worst a consistant 17 James. My aim is consistant 16's and more importantly to have fun.

I pulled the 18 first! yay.. but dave smoked it by FOUR seconds in the last final! Dave was running a few teeth bigger pinion than me so his cheap mabuchi could keep up to my hardcore johnson 4-slot. hah haaaa! :)

We were both using silver can's, and NOT sport tuned motors. !super

Only time will tell as we all wait in anticipation for the one and only "540 CLASSIC!"

wasnt it great fun!

i was soooooo surprised how much of a beating the mini can take on the ryper offroad! nothing broken at all, and we all saw how many tumbles it took over the triple!

only thing i noticed was a few screws loose here and there..

yes it jumps!! and cruises over the moguls down the back of the track!!! good straightline speed too..and thats with the sports tuned!

I reckon chuck a stock motor in there and BAM!

After seeing the Mini's and a TT-01 go loose on the off road class, I'd love to see a rally class, some TL-01's, TT-01's and M03's going silly on the off road track, now that'd be fun!

I think a lot would, hell I'd pick up a cheapo TT-01 keep it standard bar bearings and aluminium shaft, wack on a Lancer Evo body and have a good ol' hack session! Shell would last maybe 2-3 weeks at best though and you'd bust a spur every weekend but so what?

Amazingly enough, I went down to Rypers today to practice for this and found my pos car very driveable. I'm really looking forward to racing now and hope all who entered have a good time.
