hello.
just trying to hunt down some info on building a track in my area.
[Northern suburbs]
i am looking at building a basher style track, for casual meets or practice.
we already have an onroad track marked in this area, where we sometimes
host drift sessions also.
my q's are:

1. what is the best 'general use' surface used in off-road track building?
2. where can i obtain said surface materials locally? [in perth WA]
3. anyone know of any rough costs, how many trailer loads etc?
-comparing size to west-coast track, should be roughly the same.

any help would be gladly appreciated, i have the earthmoving gear at the ready. :)

thanks!

Northern suburbs already has a track, the one in carine. They're looking for committee members and general members, so you could probably do it the easy way and just sign up with them. PM Jay (up_on_1) here on TA, or Mike (keyesgood), they can probably sort you out.

As for building, the surface material varies, west coast used to have a 60/40 clay/brickdust surface, but it got bad, so we resurfaced it with 100% clay. I think Carine have the same surface. Bunbury use a clay/sand mix but requires a lot of maintenance. Rypers have some sort of clay but i don't know the specifics.

West coast 120 TON of clay when we resurfaced 2 years ago. It cost us $2-3k if memory serves.

whoah 120ton.....there's a couple of trucks, thanks heaps rob!

i have been meaning to become a member at carine [nice bunch of guys]
but my weekends can turn to 'right-off' so quick due to my freelancing
...looking for somewhere to bash/practice on weekdays etc.
i built a 1:18 track out the back for my kids [sheehyeah right].
....the more tracks the better i guess. not wanting to compete
with any established clubs, it's a 'me' thing. :D

thanks again.......soils aint soils here i come! lol

clay and sand is a good mix depends if u want a road race smooth type track or a real rutty bumpy proper off road track i got a loamy/clay track that i rip before i run for the day moto style and its mad as bit of water between runs and shes sweet
