Well a guy I know (the one you may have seen me bitch about before) is trying to tell me his CRT monitor is better than my 19" 8ms monitor.
Please prove him it's not, I know it's not, but some proof some you guys experiences would be good to show him.

for playing movies and photos you cannot go past CRT , its not possible to get the natural colour or contrast ratio on an LCD as you do on crt .
CRT is just more natural .
In saying this , LCD is the way to go for general PC use as it runs pixel for pixel and is sharp as you can get .
On another note , 3d goggles wont work on LCD monitors so theres another little drawback if you wanna get into 3d virtual gaming . This is the same for Projectors , my Spanking top notch DLP cant keep up with the games yet the SOny G70 CRT has no issues ( and has a much nicer natural colour tone for movies ) .
End of the day Mike depends on what you wanna use it for as to whats better .
I have an LCD so am not being biased either way

Hes trying to tell me that my 19" 8ms is a bad gaming monitor.. So yeah general PC use and gaming is what I do.
Ummm with 8ms I do not get any shadows that I can see, and I'm running a good GFX card so I can run it on full res with good colours and refresh rate.
I'm not sure why he thinks my monitor is so bad for gaming. He was giving me all these sites comparing 2001 and 2002 LCD screens against a 2006 CRT, saying that the LCD is bad... Yeah so hes pretty clueless, and also he compares his CRT monitor to his 15" laptop monitor..
just slap him and tell not to be such a nerd...
EVEN UR CRT DIDN;T SEE THAT COMING!

By the way, hes trying to tell me that CRT's are going to get way better than LCD's because they are new and LCD's are old, and the CRT is just new technology n stuff. LOL he is just so wrong.
the cathode ray tube is very old technology, i mean sure they've made it heaps better, but the original idea has been around for decades...

That's a nice monitor at a nice price.
I have two LCD monitors, one is 16ms, the other 12ms (I think) and I see NO ghosting or have any problems playing videos and games. A CRT CAN make a game look slightly better in terms of blurring the image a bit so as to minimise the jaggies, but that's really a fault of the monitor rather than a feature. And besides, you should have AA turned on anyway (unless you're like me and can't turn on AA + HDR at the same time for Oblivion :P ).
I managed to grab my 19" 12ms BenQ for $399 so I'd rather save the money than buy into all this response time marketing.
As for the original post, Most CRTs aren't nearly as clear as LCDs. CRTs will have a more blurry look to them.
You will also have to run a CRT at 85MHz+ to stop them from flickering and giving you headaches, which means more strain on your video card. LCDs run fine at 60MHz.
CRTs take up WAY too much space. My desk couldn't hold 3 monitors.....yes, I like multi monitor setups.

I run a Viewsonic VA912 LCD in digital mode (DVI). Its a 8ms. I can crank the mouse to 2000dpi and spin in a FPS at 75fps (v-sync on) and get _No_ image blur.
I think its time CRT's we bured. Especially as they loose image qualitiy over time!

like i said BB , depends what you wanna use them for .
Home theatre , nothing compares to a CRT projector . For movies , nothing compares to CRT tvs cause Plasma , dlp and especially LCD cant reproduce natural colours as well as CRT .
For PC , has to be LCD though .
Also , LCD dulls over time and pixels die and go supernova ( bright dots .. hehe )

Well I run a 19" 8ms "Ultra Fast Gaming Monitor".
I have:
AMD Athlon 3200+
1 gig ram (soon to be 3 gig)
200gig HD (nothing to diwht speed but pfft)
ATI Radeon 9800 PRO (P.O.S over heating egg cooker!)
"Cool Master" Tower (keep things cool, has like 6 box fans)
Well yeah my main game is Counter Strike. And with vsync off, and some over clocking of the processor and GFX card I can run at 250fps (actualy frames shown) and around 400 (theoreticle). I get no visual shadowing, and I never even knew it happened till this guy told me it is meant to happed.
So yeah, when you run a decent speed LCD with a good GFX card / procesor they are bloody brilliant! even for ggaming!
