more on this... this is a great chance to get into this fun form of r/c!
I'm soon to be gathering 1/18th scale off-roaders to come to Ryper on Sunday race day's to race in a class or two of 1/8th' scale madness. They have a purpose built indoor track for this. OR if the demand requires it, the outdoor 1/10th track would work too.
It'd be great to get this racing class happening! heaps of fun.
Ryper Hobbies also stock a tonne of mini-T and RC18T spare parts and hop-up's for quick repairs or performance enhancements!
geez, this sounds like a Ryper advert! haha...

out of the box with AA batteries they're pretty slow, still good for some wheel stands on carpet, and jumps, etc... get a 6-cell in it and it boots! even with the standard motor. best thing about them is there's thousands of hop-up parts available.
getting people together at the moment to start some racing at Ryper Hobbies :)
how pricey are hop ups for these? is the stock 380 any good?
i was told if you get one you should change the shocks...as the stockies are crap

LOL.. I have a Baja King and I dont find it too bad. Its a lot better than my previous Super hornet. On the Super hornet the rear axle/motor used to jump around all over the place.

hop ups are pretty cheap, as the thing is 1/18th scale :)
I bought the losi oil shocks and front and rear spring sets when i ordered it, because yes, the standard friction shocks are garbage. maybe okay for indoor basic stuff .. i found it weak. took it home from work when it arrived and fitted up the oil shocks straight away, awesome improvement.
I love it, cant get enough of it. take it everywhere, mates places, etc.. :) starting up some propper racing at Ryper Hobbies soon!

Thats the best part about Mini-T's IMHO, the fact you can take them ANYWHERE....leave one in the glovebox of your car, and if you find some jumps, take it out and go for it!
I'd love to get a Mini-T, but I've been bitten by the Savage bug, and thats going to take up my entire RC budget pretty soon :P
i didnt know it was 170 RTR...im ordering one now :D
so basically all you mod is the shocks? what about the esc? or the motor? enough for abit of fun around ryper?
it comes with ESC and motor, yupp.
yeh, but how are they?
and i cant seem to find the losi shocks on rms...i wanna get it all on one order :(
i would recommend sending a PM to james to ask him, he got it all in one hit!
do they take your average 6 cell stick pack?

Stock shockers are crap. I've got the oil filled, bearing set, fireball motor, 6 cell pack and cvd's. Gets along nicely for it's size.

:)
the stock esc/rec/servo is okay, does the job, but after hopping up the motor, suspension and other parts you might wish to change all the electronics. dunno.
oil shocks are a must. I ordered all my gear from modelflight.com.au not radiomodels.com.au. I just noticed radio model's had a great deal.
model flight have a better deal in my opinion as for $199 they throw in a 6cell 1100mah nimh battery pack and charger.
The mini-T is a bit slow on AA's, but is pretty quick on 6cell! you can mock up more AA's and run 7 AA's with some custom work. see www.one18th.com for some articles and info!
I'm very tempted to get the mamba brushless kit after seeing one go on the weekend at ryper! (holy SH*T!)
there's an actual Mini-T racing season starting at ryper in a few months (during the rain season) as it's indoors.
After speaking with Perry at Ryper, they are going to build a 1/18th indoor on-road track, and modify their Mini-T track to be bigger !!
there's a lot of interest building! sweet
