View Full Version : my home charging bay
not a tech thread for anyone to really gain any knowledge, but i thought i would share how ive set up a designated area to charge and discharge my batterys.
i have an Ansmann charger which seems to have a very sloppy peak detection - ive witnessed it allow a 1 volt drop on a nimh before cutting off the charge. 1 volt? nimh should be cut after 0.02 - 0.05 of a drop! i didnt go out and buy a gun-ho charger as funds are a little tight, but i invested in a voltmeter so i can watch the voltage manually and pull the charger off the battery the moment i see a voltage drop.
here is my "charging bay" where it all happens before a race meet.

side-by-sde packs you make yourself. You can dismantle a stick pack and reconfigure it for side-by-side.
generally side-by side pack's are only really needed for on-road cars that have holes in the chassis as a provision to sit the cells lower to the ground/deck for better centre of gravity. in a buggy/truck/whatever it doesnt matter a whole lot.
side-by-side packs would also be used for those who have individual cell discharge tray's..

What re those venom batts like? I was thinking about getting a new charger (so I can finally get on the NiMH bandwagon), and I saw those batts are less than 50bux ea.

Very good packs, but pricey..
Log onto eBay and search GP 3300
You will find many many 3300mah GP packs, for around 50 bucks AU landed
