Is anybody running 1/12th scale in WA - wouldn't mind having a go myself. Also, what format?? 4 or 6 cell, 5 or 8 min??
Cheers

No one runs it in Perth at organised race meets (Precc and Ryper).

Could be interesting. An associated factory team 1/12 is only $179 US: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXGVT2&P=0

Could be more interesting than 1/18 onroad.

PLUS come states/nats etc, 1/12 is a recognised class!

12th scale is the most amazing class you could race! Is it dead all over Australia or just in your area?

Gonna hafta get a 1/18th instead :( If any of you guys are looking at getting 1/12 up & going again let me know - probly wouldn't be able to make it up to race more than once a month though

As far as i know 1/12 is dead in Oz, never so much as seen one on a track anywhere.

But could be interesting to get going.

1/12 is slowly taking off again over east. SMA in Sydney and I think Hobby Habit in Adelaide run a class of 1/12th each week.

There was one or two that did race at Ryper for a short period of time about a year ago.

problem with 1/12 is parts availability and mainly, tyres. oh and of course the battery configuration, etc.

This is interesting, are you guys seeing 12th scale as a dying class or simply not popular due to these issues? What tracks in Australia are running 12th scale and what is the turnout like? I assume most of your racing would be on asphalt and not carpet?

Nick, i can only speak for myself, but as far as i understand, the 1/12th is a long forgotten art. There are currenlty no 1/12th class anywhere in Western Australia (i could be wrong)

The reason why its a popular topic of discussion at the mo is because 1/12th is available as a race class in our up coming State Titles.. and a handful of onroaders are / will be buying 1/12ths just so to have some fun, while some are going for sheep stations :)

oh, and the state titles will be held indoors, on carpet.

my 1/12th is 'almost' ready to go. it just needs front wheel bearings, and 64p pinions (unless i can convert it to 48p, which I'd rather do) maybe I'll have something organised for tues night... getting there!

James - the kimborough 48p spurs ala assoc tc3/4 should fit straight on, and they allow you to run 12 balls in the diff if you want. Got 48p on my t-fource, cheaper than buying a heap of 64p pinions
