How are you guys .
Im no stranger to the RC world from all aspects in boats , planes , helis and cars but this new drifting sensation has really cought my attention .
Whats involved , do i need a new car or can i convert an old 1 , does it need to be 4wd , do i need to change suspension etc , do you need huge power to get them going sideways etc .
Any info would be greatly appreciated and even more info on websites i may be able to download clips off would be even better .
Thanx and i hope to hear back soon .

All you need is a 4wd onroad electric, stock motor, and some way of breaking traction. Personally, I have a set of tyres which are taped up with electrical tape and a set of pvc tyres.
With tape, you need to experiment with where you wrap the tape around. Dont cover the whole tyre. I use tape on the outer part of my rears, and in the middle of my fronts. Taped tyres are good for anywhere really.
In my experience, pvc is only good for concrete surfaces, and even then, not all concrete is the same. I bought a cheap set of rims and cut some pvc and then slid the pvc over the rims. My pvc turned out to be a bit small, so I had to grind off a bit of the rim(run the car with the rims on and use a file to grind), but now I have a snug fit and no need for glue, so replacing tyres is cheap. PVC has given me the best drifts so far. Very easy to get going sideways.
For vids, the best I have seen so far come from the Yokomo site. Look for their drift car kits ;)

Oh and regarding setup....generally speaking, you want the rear to be firm and the front to be soft. I run no camber on all wheels. A slight camber change will affect the handling a lot.
But, really it doesn't matter a lot. Just get some drift tyres made up and go and play. I started with my beat up old Tamiya TB01 rally and it was just as much fun as my new Pro4.

Hey Balistc .
Thats f#$@*#k grouse man . Ive seen a few drift vids but thats the best to date .
I got motivated big time today and bought some of the newly released ( apparently ) Drift tyres . Unlike the standard ones with the Grooves in them , these actually have tread and are more of a plasticky compound than rubber if you know what i mean .
I know there was also a debate brewing on Nissan being for the chicks but i believe the only way to drift would be via Mazda or Nissan hence the reason i ended up puchasing a 350Z shell to top off my beast . Ill post some pix once i finish it tonight .
Anyway , thanx for the vid clip and please send more if anyone knows of them as im fully sold on these things .

how are those drift tyres? I was under the impression that they worked best for nitros. If they're good for electrics and long lasting, I'd definately step up and buy some.
