View Full Version : my charger has arrived - pics inside thread
this afternoon it arrived, came from the U.S.
its an LRP Pulsar Competition, pro stuff. will charge 1 to 8 cells, charge current 1 to 8amp adjustable [on the fly], discharge at 1 to 10amp, has motor run-in function. is programable, so battery can be set to discharge with a 30 min pause before charging.
here is a piccy, also you can see the power supply i purchased from Jaycar which is rated at 15amp, and my new batterys (one is second hand, the other NEW NEW)

Love it! One of the chargers I'd have gotten if I was serious (either that or a Intellipeak Ice), not that I know how to charge batteries :(
you know what? until last week i didnt know how to charge batterys either. but the bloke who sold me the charger has been telling me info as ive gone along with the purchase [of the charger and the battery]
i would like to introduce him to the site soon, his name is Ash and he races and runs an RC business as his full time job. he buys the stuff, tests it and if it up to scratch he will add it to his list of products.
he's a bloody top bloke. maybe soon i'll get him on here.
the charger is $299 to buy in the shops, "Ash" (a bloke who setup his new RC business and races at the track) got it for me for $250. the battery sells for $100 for the cells alone in the shop but he supplied it and made the pack for $90. the power supply, i bought that from jaycar for $189, i paid full retail grrrrrrrrrrr.
i have to get Ash here, the discounts he gives is wild. there really IS high markups that the shops add on.

nice charger. as for markup's of course, how do you suppose hobby shops survive, if we all got near-cost prices there would be no hobby shops. While it's good and easy to buy over the net from a non-existant shop, it's also nice to walk into a hobby shop, talk to the staff and look at the stock/cars/whatever, have a place to return the goods easily if they fail (warranty), etc...
i like ya charger, nice

Given the relatively low volume of RC stuff the Physical shops need to mark their stuff up to cover rent / electricity / phones / wages etc

It'd be better if at least the stores would compete just a little instead of setting their prices and sticking to their guns.
When I was shopping for my Nitro MT Racer, I asked Perth Hobbies how much they could do it for. They said something ridiculous like $690. I told them I could get it from RMS for $600 if I waited a couple days. Perth Hobbies wouldn't even budge a little on their price. Went to Perth RC and they offered straight up to get me one in for $590 (I think) so I took it. RMS then contacted ME to offer the truck for even less, but I refused as I had already commited.
Nice to see some shops fight for my love.
