FINALLY, I bought myself a Mini-T :)

I had bid on this beast

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5954711281&ssPageName=ADME:X:ON:AU:2

But I got outbid....and decided to build my own Mini-T

The particular version I bought is the Mini-T Pro, and it cost me 215 landed from eBay. It comes minus radio gear and servo, but has an upgraded speed motor (which, by the way, WILL BE FOR SALE once it arrives), aluminium shocks, ti turnbuckles, bearings, ball diff, MIP CVDs, clear motor cover, etc.

The reason I bought this version?

Cos I just ordered a....

MAMBA 6800 BRUSHLESS MOTOR FOR IT! !amazed

http://www.castlecreations.com/images/Mamba-pix.gif

I was *this* close to getting the Mamba 8000, but I've read in a lot of places that its impossible to use for actual racing, and considering I'll be racing at Ryper's track, its going to be useless.

The 6800 is still capable of ludicrous speed, around 90km/h on a 3 cell lipo rather than 100km/h, but I'll be using 6 cell NiMH for racing, and 8 cell for fun ;)

Looking forward to beating everyone's on-road nitro cars with this thing :D

thats awesome! of course you'll be working hard to beat my Mini-T at ryper <grin> good choice on the Mamba, I'd go 5400 or 6800 also, 8000 is no good for racing, at all.

you could race your 6800 on a 2cell lipo batt, or a 6cell nimah to slow it down a bit if it's way too quick. Put in the 2 or 3-cell lipo for hardcore bashing.

where'd you order the mamba from? i need to order mine.

I'm picking up my new Jr radio gear and hitec micro servo for the mini-T today.. !lmao

while it's cheap to buy from over seas, warranty is a major hassle. I dont really buy anything from overseas, mainly coz of that problem. I guess I'll probably end up paying $250 for a mamba locally haha

Im picking up a Hitec-HS55 servo and mini-T servo saver today from RMS... I'll be there about 4pm.

I care not for warranty....if anything ****s up, I'll just send it back. Castle Creations are a very "personalised" company IE they go on all the forums and take suggestions from their customers, as well as being really good with their customer support, so if anything goes wrong I'll just send it back :)

Yeah, screw warranty. I've never had a problem ordering from overseas. In fact, the only problems I did have was with stuff bought locally.

Bought a Novak Fusion, was faulty straight out of the box. Had to get it sent over east and pay $50 for a replacement while they diagnosed the problem. 1 YEAR later, after many emails sent by RMS, I managed to get my $50 deposit back and go tto keep the replacement.

Bought a T3 that came with the wrong length battery strap. Returned it to RMS who would order the correct size replacements. It's been 2 1/2 years and no sign of it....sold the truck anyway.

HPI was offering free upgrade diff replacements for their Pro3. I was in contact with Perth RC and Bolt-on (the distributer) trying to get the free upgrade. Was told numerous times that it wasn't valid unless the stock diff was NOT broken. Mine was, because I had the faulty original one. Tried reasoning with Bolt-on that what did it matter if it was broken or not....the replacement was meant to make sure it doesnt break cos people kept breaking theirs!!!! Got reallly pissed off (as everyone else did with Bolt-on). Managed to get a replacement somehow in the end. Then found out Bolt-on turned into Venom, or at least had very close ties with them, so boycotted Venom for a long time.

Well I emailed the guy at b-p-p and told him to hold oen of them, i have to wait til my paypal account is verified for increased usage...this will take a few days, so I cant buy it until then.

If you want I can email him and tell him u want one also??? Shipping is only 4.50 per item anyway so its not as if we'll save a huge amount on shipping :)

So now I'm playing the waiting game...waiting for my Mini-T Pro, 2 custom built battery packs and my Mamba Brushless Competition setup (and James' too) to arrive.

I went out today and got a servo. I intially ordered the HS-55 from RMS, but when I got there, I ended up walking away with a HS-81MG, which is a bit quicker, a bit more torquey and has metal gears. This will stand up better to the brutality I normally dish out :)

The HS-81MG requires a few small mods, such as cutting the ears off the servo, and grinding down one of the ribs in the chassis, but apart from that...its all good :D

Juls tried to sell me the same servo. I walked out with the HS-55 as planned however.

the HS-81 is stronger, has metal gears, etc.. but try finding a servo horn that fits, and suits the mini-T. I'm sure you can bodge something up. :)

when you come up with a solution, let me know, as when my HS-55 breaks from mamba carnage the 81mg is next hahaha

Troy at b-p-p is pretty good although shipping times can be longish. I have bought 3 Lipos from him at various times and b-p-p is one of the few places that charges reasonable shipping (ACtually the last 2 times Ive had Free shippping !!! due to some mixups )
