Hi Guys.
I was at a couple of RC tracks in Rockingham on Saturday with my Mugen MBX-5, and after leaving the "work in progress" RC track next to the Rockingham BMX club, I headed to the one off Dowling St, next to the Rockingham Soccer Club. I gather from the size, that it was made for 1:10 elec offroad, but for a couple of 1:8 nitros it's fine. I just have a couple of q's I needed answers for :
1) who actually owns the track?
2) when was the last time anyone raced there?
3) are there plans to ressurect racing there?
4) why did people stop racing there?
It looked like it hadn't been used in a while - and I had to get a few pieces of crap off the track, and the weeds and stuff had over grown, but nothing a whipper snipper can't fix.
I've got a 1:16 nitro I wouldn't mind taking there too..anyone else used it recently?
Marz.

Sweet - thanks.
So no one would really mind if I went there along for a couple of hours by myself?

You might just want to check with the soccer club, since it's on their land. Might belong to the council, not sure, but i'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with murdoch uni.

to correct you king it has everything to do with the uni.
the uni is currently undergoing a huge re-development which will eventually take over the soccer club and hence the R/C track. this is the main reason for rockingham having to shut up shop.

Ahh ok, i thought the uni only owned the land on the other side of the road.

Mr Rocky :
- the one next to the soccer club, is down Dowling St, right opposite the Rockingham Rugby Club.
It's pretty run down, and like I said, I had to clear a lot of shit off the track before I could race my buggy there.
- the one next to the BMX track, I was there on Saturday, but the heat and the flies made it too annoying to stay for two long. Plus that track is shit - there's rocks everywhere in there, and too much soft sand.
I heard talk of a decent track in Rockingham last year, after the Alcoa track dissapeared, but I heard nothing more than hearsay..

The soccer club track was/is a decent track, it just had no members!
Why is a new one being built when the existing one has nobody to race on it. seems odd

Hyper: I know the one now, thanks for that. Someone recommended I run my on-roader down on the netball courts there, as the surface is primo. So if you guys head down I might drop past for a brew and bring the v1 down as well.
Bob: last time i went to bmx track there was a few people there, maybe 10-15 buggies? but this was a few months back.
I have heard as well, that someone dumped a heap of limestone at the bmx track so theres big rocks and crud everywhere, which doesn't suprise me. A couple of mates don't go there anymore for that exact reason.

Kingbob - The Dowling St track was too small for anything other than 1:10 - every club meet I go too, it's all 1:8 nitro..buggy and truggy class - you'd be hard pressed to get anymore than 2 or 3 1:8's out there :) the one next to the BMX club is purley to cater for 1:8 nitro.
Stone - yeah man - I'll be up in town till about lunch time, so I'll try n get down to Rockingham track tomorrow.
If you like, I'll PM you my mobile, to let you know when n where etc..
Mr Rocky - yeah - limestone is useless...they need a decent clay / dirt compound. Limestone dust is bad for airfilters, and provides shithouse grip to boot. You'll find most tracks are either grass (like Radio Rally club) or clay dirt (MORBC). They started to have a bit of a clue at the old Alcoa track, but that was a while ago!!

Went past on sunday, definetly bit tight for nitro.
and as suggested, needs ALOT of work.
Out of interest does anyone know anything about the permissions needed for running down here? I could only see one entrance and that was through as busted fence.
Anyone of you guys own the white feroza that was there about 10:00am ?

Yeah it's a nice layed out track..pity it's only 1:10, but for a couple of nitro 1:8s - it's ok for a muck around.
I've just finished building my truggy, so I'll probably be down there this weekend with any luck.

Word on the beat is that next sunday there is a race meet down at the track near the bmx on ennis ave. Not sure on the standards though. 9:00am I think it starts, might go check it out then head down the rocky rc track on dixon to run the v1 on the courts again.

I think Radio Rally is the club that races Nitro at CanningVale and used to race at Burswood.

XSNoiz - dude did u work at Audiocom?
Mazmbwe - correct - we race at Canningval Markets - and now, they've given us a 12 month lease there - so it's all good.
Final face for the year is next Sunday.

Not going to the track, but i'm heading to the netball courts about 20metres from it again on sunday if you want to catch up for a beer or 5.
Audiocom and Strathfield. My two least favourite installation venues...(no personal offence intended)
Audiocom particularly

Uncle used to race in the 90's down in Bunbury. Bought a basher to learn to race before I bought a serious buggy.
