Just got myself an Electrafun XP RTR
It comes with spare wing and tail, 4 channel radio(only uses 3 for the plane), 2 batteries and charger.
I've never tried to fly planes before so i didn't know what to expect.
Very minimal assembly and a quick charge of the batteries and i was ready to go at the local footy oval.
The plane took off from the ground no worries and after a few rough emergency landings i managed to keep it up in the air for 5 minutes before a 'fairly' smooth landing.
I've since spent a little time at the local model aircraft club and find the Electrafun easy and fun to fly
I highly recommend this plane to anyone wanting a cheap start in r/c flight.
It has a high mount main wing and rear mounted propellor so when you do crash the prop and motor don't slam into the ground lol.
Oh yeah, it cost me $155 from Toyworld.

Aparently there are people putting brushless motors in them and racing as they are so cheap to repair... not sure if i'll go down the modifying path with it though...
Anyone else got these planes?

I know this is just alot off topic but Jim if you ever head down Melbourne way let me know and we should tee up a Bash day.I know Redrum and RB would be up for it as well.I am actually about 50klm North of Melb.

Back to the topic.

dito to Vamps .

As far as running brushless in these planes , i wouldnt recomend it , the wings will clap eventually and not worth the effort to strengthen IMHO as their really a trainer .

Ive flown 1 of these and yes , they are great planes to fly , very easy as you can take your hands off the controls if you get into trouble and shell glide .

As vamps said 007 , if your coming for a trip closer to melbourne , pm 1 of us and well tee up . Ill bring a few planes and a few helis and vamps i can assure you that with the planes " I BASH " ... lol ( sorry , another thread joke )

Yeah I've got a few HobbyZone planes - Commander 2 and the Extreme, and just bought a 3D Typhoon ... 3Ch brushless!

good onya king .

Mate , i know its a slow investment by the time it comes from OS but go onto ebay , type in " E Sky " and buy the flight sim . Comes with FMS ( which is free to download anyway ) but also comes with a USB 4channel transmitter controller .

Mate , i swear to god , a week on that like an hour a night and you will be flying the real RC stuff , trust me .

Its only about $40 delivered so its FA in ternms of what its gonna save you in repairs .

well guys i'll make sure i get down there in the near future for a bash... what suburb are we talking about catching up in??

as for the wings... yeah they aren't too strong... i recommend some packing tape on the back of the main wing to protect it from the propellor as it can hit it on rough landings if the wing is knocked out of it's mount.
Finally, sounds like that flight sim is a good idea before i spend money on my next plane :-)
