while on the subject of off-road 4wd's (vince, hehe)

Here's an SBV2 I built recently. Went together real nice, very flexible on battery layout (as you can see from chassis design)... shaft driven. Motor can be on either side of car, FPR chassis (with carbon option if desired)

you'll never guess what they retail for...

It looks like a $350 car and i hope its better than the last pro version cause all of them fell apart at the 05 states %-6

Sure it might not look tricked up, BUT James could win 4WD with a Tamiya Dirt Thrasher with only 3 wheels.

back on topic... this (SBV2) isnt the pro version of the car, it's the 'sport' or entry level version... much revised over the older 'SB'. Shall see how it goes!

I really like the way that you can mount the batteries however you want. Looking forward to seeing it run at the Hardman Cup.

pretty flexible. 6cell, or 3-3 cell, or 4-2 cell, or even 5-1 cell. servo and motor can be on either side too... neat idea

correct me if i am wrong, but if you run your motor opposite of the drive side pushing the car forward would'nt you be goin in reverse instead of forward if you put it the opposite of the drive side?

Sounds interesting on how they came up with a way to do this.
Sounds like you would have to reverse the spur and drive to acheive this.

Btw nice rig, how does it compare to your previous steeds?

If the pinion on the motor is turning anti-clockwise, then the spur will turn clockwise regardless of which side of the spur the pinion is on.

The motor is not being turned around it is just swapping side.

EDIT: clarity.

It only changes front to rear facing of the motor ,not side to side , but then again we are not all engineers.

oh ok i get it now if you have the pinion on the right goin anticlockwise it will be turning the spur down clockwise and if you have the pinion on the left spinning anticlockwise it will be turning the spur up clockwise, cool good way to balance out the chassis with the battery packs etc.

good call, and true... I have all the parts required to turn it into a 'pro' spec, however I also have a pro-spec coming... (when it's released)

I guess I was saying, for the money, it's well optioned, has nice layout, is flexible on weight dist, the parts are good and it builds well. What you dont get is carbon (you get FPR, which is still nice), alu shocks, rear cvd's, and so on...

I expect the PRO version to retail for under $500 aus.

I cant comment on how well it goes as I've not used it yet... but from the build, and how it goes together, and works, it's not much unlike any shaft driven off-roader..

see how we go :)
