i presume the club will be going with the amdrc system.
r we buying local and getting a bundle deal with transponders or do all the members have to source their own?

We will VERY soon be getting an AMBRC digital system. Unfortunately I don't think there is anywhere local to get them, they have to come direct. With personal transponders, again they are cheapest from AMB. I think they only do a slight discount for large orders. Like 5% off for more than 10, and thats it.
We have spoken about ordering 10 or 15 personals as well for members, ordered for those who put money down.
A lot of guys who run onroad as well already have their own, so we won't need too many. I'm sure there are meany members who will just use the transponders the club will have with the new system.

I hope there is a notice that people interested in buying the Personal trannies can reply to or put their name on and add money too??!!!

Yeah of course, be a little while yet though. We have to pay insurance and rates first before we spend all the clubs money!

Rob,
AMB in the east. Order direct.
The last time we ordered transponders ended up just shy of $150, with discounts for 30 or more, not 10 as they had done previously.
For the system and some rechargeables is quite expensive. Do they trade or offer anything for AMB20 systems.
Regards,
Peter S.

I believe they do a rebate for the analog system, about $2k i think, but we are looking at selling them to another club, possibly to Carine if they're interested.

Guys support your local club .....Yes they have been on eBay & yes you can buy direct ,but the club has got to spend over $6k to install all the new software for you..So lets stop thinking of ourselfs for a change & support the club that is trying to support you

that's kewl and all, but if the club isn't going to get a discount or make any money by buying the system and transponders in bulk, y would i part with so much cash when i can get it cheaper elsewhere.
that's why i initially asked if they get a bundle deal.
its a pity that for so much money for the core part of the system u cant get a local electronics's firm to come up with a solution that could use the amd transponders and give you change out of 6 grand.

Wel will get a discount if we buy enough. Just don't know how much of a discount. I've emailed AMB to ask.

Congrats Boony, you just told us to do something we've already thought of :P
daz, my money will be with the club. no probs there.
ive already inverstigated and know whats involved with buying the systems and transponders. Unfortunately as AMB is currently THE ONLY option there is, they have the monopoly so they call all the shots.
There is a small discount, but like all the people who have done their homework knows... its not much.

It also means that when you pratice you can also get lap times if the system is turned on at the time and also means that every week someone doesnt have to sit there for 20 or 30 minutes typing in the name of every driver and what transponder they will use that night.
One Q for you guys though, is there any possibility of buying the transponders from the US since they are about 45 bucks cheaper than buying them direct or is the US system different to ours?

nah nuts they still have to type in the driver,if not more cos they need the pt # that is like 8 numbers long

they should not have to if the software was any good.
once u enter the driver info and transponder code it should stay in a database and u simply select the ppl who are racing.

Once we enter the driver their transponder number/freq will come up automatically. Thats the whole point.
