Practice from 11.00am till we (or our motors) get cooked - proably 5-ish

It's a bring-your-own-everything track. Bring your own power, tables etc. Shade is by virtue of trees
but slap on/bring sunscreen.

There are no toilet facilities on the track but there are some in the reserve.

what happened to the power box, cause we are going to need power for teh bombshell

The one powerboard isn't going to run too many 10amp power supplies on the day - this will be reserved for timing gear, PA system etc. In other words, BYO 12V source for the Bombshell.

Well the main powerboard that has been utilised for numerous years has been suitable for EVERYONE to use and worked 99.9% of the time with a few glitches. I hope your incorrect here regarding power supplies as Im sure you will find many will be turned off at that fact for future reference. %-6

There's 2 power points. One will be reserved for computer etc.
The other will be free for use but can only handle 15A max. If this blows, we don't have access to the main power board so there will then be no power. So would need to roster the use of chargers to avoid an overload situation. An overload switched powerboard may eliminate the risk of the power tripping. But the maths means no more than 3 charges operating at 5A can work at the same time.
The advice the club would give would be self sufficient of AC power. Can run chargers off car batteries, Jump-start batteries etc.

Not that Im running on the weekend, but its never been a problem before when EVERYONE has run off the only 2 points that are there, hell yes it has tripped out on occasions but never been a drama really. Im sure its all goood but i doubt you will have anyone charging off car batteries...were use to modern power sources ;)

correct me if im worng but if u have 15A running through the main power, its not the same as running 15 or anywere near 5 amp thruogh a charger

The overview on the power situation is that have previously run a large number of chargers on the one power point at Carine
with no problems.

But this doesn't mean there isn't the possibility of an overload in the future. Especially as battery capacity has increased meaning higher amp charging. Also could come unstuck if someone plugs a soldering iron or 2 in - so advised to use gas irons if possible.Depending on the number of racers on the day it would be good if at least some are not relying on AC to take the strain off the system so it can be a trouble-free day.

I through a PS only drew about 0.35Amps mains power) to charge a pack at 6 amps.

V(in)I(in) = V(out)I(out)
240 x I = 13.8 x 6
I = 0.345Amps

Therefore you could charge 43 packs off the 15 amp powerboard. But then this is based on one Electrical Engineering Unit I did at uni about 4.5 years ago and I never did pay much attention so I may be completely wrong.

that sounds about right,we are doing the same crap at school(yr11 electrical circuits)

The carine track has ALWAYS previously handled 30, 40 odd drivers charging, soldering etc, and the odd tv and fan. It has never been a problem before. Except when someone kicks out a cable somewhere.

FINALLY someone else with some sence agreeing with me.......Its been the same for years. The Carine crew need to get over it and move on.

Hey guys, point taken. We're only concerned that things run smoothly for everyone. That's without members who have been at Carine for more than a few months. So my view is if there's any probs, which by the sound of it there shouldn't be, everyone has been kept informed.

It will be good to see this many chargers - and competitors - on the day.
