So Im hooked on rc flight again..... :p
And as a RC Junky,I need my next FIX.
This time Im thinkin scale, seen a little electric S.E.5.A that temped me,Boy it temped me.But No, an ARF will just not satisfy me this time.
So 40 2 stroke is the size Im aiming at,It'll be a kit.But what kit?
Im leaning toward another J3 Cub, mayby a cliped wing this time. But that would make about number 6 or so.
I started scratch building a P 40 before I left the sticks, maybe one of them out of a box instead.
Wot you fulla's recon? ?! :p

Dad had one year's ago,running a 4 smoker.It was a nice lookin plane too.
I like the way you think RB,A tail drager too.Nice.
Or a Pawnee,or an Ag wagon,Yeh.....Built a Pawnee free flight as a kid.Got a bit of a soft spot for them coz of that.
That used to rise off ground,do 2 circles and land time and time again inside a tenis court.Ah memories.
HMmmmmmmmm.

OK,It's been decided.
I got a mag with a free plan,So scratch build it is...
She's a WW1 Fighter, A Bristal F2B Biplane. Desinged for the GWS IPS range of motors, this will be the first first RC biplane Iv'e built. The free flights I did years ago flew marginaly.Mainly due ,actualy TOTALY due to the dogy builder.
Hey RB can you spin your magic an produce a photo of a real one for me to scale it after? PLEASE?

Might get me a stand off scale electric,I seen Big Dazz's new toy last night. A brushless/LiPo SU-31.
He said they had Bi planes too,and for the fantastic price of $90 with the brushless/speedy/LiPo how can you go wrong.
This should be fun.

I got the Ultimate Biplane, they were the only ones left but that was what I went there to get anyway.Im stoked with the completness of the Kit for the price.Love the size of the control surfaces, this is going to be fun.
Only thing is the Instructions leave alot to be desired,If you guys get confused ........ dont call me! I dont ****en know either.LoL,my tail surfaces are drying atm.It should be a fairly quick build.

Well Im at ground test, and the ****en motor runs backwards!!
Its my first out runner and Im unsure if I should just un-solder the deans and reverse it or is there something ive done wrong?
Reversing the function on the transmiter didnt work either, barsted still ran backwards.

Doh, I swaped the leads to the motor an got her turning the wright way.
Off too the park, take off an had a hell moter vibration.
moved the prop shaft further down the motor shaft.
Take off again and it was still there above 1/4 thottel yet it flys at about 1/8th so I did a few laps around the 25 by 30 meter area, but forgot about all the branches hanging in that area.
cliped one at about 2 meters high, going down wind an she spun into the deck.Landed on its nose ,smashed the top wing off,the right hand elervator and the cowl!!
Good news is, it Will fly again.

Well since the Ultimate bipe,Ive acumulated a couple more stand off scale and simi scale planes. The Pico J3 Cub,and my Harmon Rocket 3.
Tonight Ive put my hand up for a second hand NEW KIT, yes I said kit, thats how we all built models years ago.
Its my most fav warbird of all time, the Curtis P40.
This ones a Top Flight Gold Edithion kit, pretty sure its the P40"E".
.60 to .90 2 stroke size,This will take for ever to build but ya get that, gunna cost a bit too.
Need a motor, retracks, tank and a bloody radio to run it. If I really go over board Ill need a 7 chanel radio,ch 5=retracts undercarrage, ch 6=Flaps, ch 7 Drop tank release!!

WooHoo,Ive got it.
And he had a JR 6 chanel computer radio there too for $100,I said Id be back to pick that up next weekend, but he wouldnt hear of it! Insisted I take it home with me and use it for a few weeks to make sure I liked it. I ****IN LOVE IT.He even pulled it apart and converted it to mode one for me.
And the kit, well, its a kit! but fair dinkum, the longer I stood there chating to him the more stuff he chucked in,a programable digi servo, engine mounts, big heeps of pics and documentation of the full size RAAF P-40 Kittyhawk.
Turned out his Father flew them in WW2, so that made up my mind to scale it after RAAF Kittyhawks.
Will see if I can rip a piky of the net to post up.

I had a score today,I was in standbridges last week and seen a replacement chin cowl for the P-40 but I left my wallet at work,so I went back today with my fingers crossed and you bloody ripper it was still sitting in the specials bin.$10 bargin.
This one im going to use to make a mould so I can make a couple of fiberglass ones.as you may or may not know, the first thing that gets broken on a scale tail drager is the cowl.
I see at least 3 nose overs every weekend at our patch. !amazed
