this was taken from another forum posted recently:

"I broke the front bulkhead last week. I replaced it today. First run, I broke the rear shock. (the mounting point) Second run, I broke the lower kick plate. I'm running BlindBatts 8-cell GP's. There was some cogging. This thing is insane. What will hold up better; the carbon fiber stuff or aluminum?"

I think we're gonna break stuff. OR, the above person doesnt know how to operate r/c equipment properly.

Dammit, I got an 8 cell GP pack from BlindBatts also, as well as my 6 cell pack for racing :P

Cogging is present in many brushless setups, but will be fine if you choose the correct gearing and run good quality packs

waiting for the mamba to arrive is killing me.

what are you doing about pinions? we need to sort that out.

I also need MIP ball diff, and Losi dual slipper for this. the mamba will chew the stock parts up.

Mine has the Losi ball diff and dual disc slipper with hardened aluminium gear shaft, as standard...so I got that covered :D

I heard the Trinity micro pinions are pretty good, where can we get these locally??

modelflight might have them.

I think before we go nuts ordering things, we ask Perry at Ryper, considering we'll be racing there. Last I spoke to him he was stocking up on mini-T parts ready for the race season.

Yeah I'm sure they'll know exactly how to solve the small problem of pinions being eaten alive by the brushless motors :P

I'm sure I've heard that trinity pinions are complete shite! It's either trinity or another brand, but I'm pretty damn sure it's Trinity. *everyone* says they're crap. But now I can't remember which ones they recommend....I'll have to re-read the one18th.com forums.

Pinions will be fine as long as we get a good metal one and make sure it's setup properly. Shouldn't even need to get any metal spurs or stuff like that.

Also, I've read that the MIP ball diff ain't that great. Whoever was reviewing it said if they had the opportunity again, they'd go with the Losi.

I always read about kids breaking this and that, but to be honest, I think they are just shit drivers. I'm definately not a great driver, but I know what will probably kill my car so I avoid those kinds of situations. But, mine's gonna be bulletproofed anyway, so that's a little insurance.

I wish guys would hurry up and get your motors! The longer it takes for you to get them, the longer I have to wait!!!

I have the 8000 and 2x 2cell 1500 lipos on the way - the wait is killing me too :(
I have heard that the trinity pinions dont sit on the shaft very well. Supposedly they come off and you have to file a flat spot on the motor shaft for it to fit properly - although i have considered them anyways, as they're a relativley easy to find part.

Some ppl are running the xray m18 graphite pinions too, although i have heard a mamba will melt anything not metal away...BUT...i have heard of a guy that ran the 8000 in a totally stock mini-t for months before he did any upgrades.

Hop-ups planned for mini-t
3racing ssg chassis
integy evo x conversion
3racing ball diff/swingshafts/rear hub carriers (i think i need all 3 of these for compatability)
Trinity offroad wheels/tyres
3racing threaded shocks and a few other bits im yet to work out :)
Can anyone see anything that should/shouldnt be there? -lol-

I'm *this* close to going full 3 Racing graphite upgrade, but I'll hold off until I smash something :P

same... I'm holding off on any hop up's till I break something. I've spent a tonne on r/c recently, so it's required hop-up's only at this stage.

At this point the only things I really want, are the bits that come on the mini-t pro..

ti turnbuckles, dual slipper, ball diff, and wheel bearings....

Someone go and buy one of those CAW (Country Alloy Works) chassis'! Those are shit-hot!

Got a link to the CAW chassis??

No I dont....its on one18th.com somewhere amongst the posts. I think they only sell over ebay. But basically, they do full aluminium chassis upgrades, but they do them niiiice. Think the "fast and furious" of chassis bling ;)

saw that... havent seen pics, but the mob sound like they r makin the goods.

awesome :)

I'll keep my lighter plastic chassis (till i snap it)

what is cogging?

BALISTC

Cogging is when the motor hesitates before it accelerates...its normally caused by the motor drawing too many amps for the batteries to handle.

ok - so i know it's not a 6800, but it IS an 8000....heres a bit i cut from another forum i posted ;)
btw - i have HEARD (only heard) that those CAW chassis are crapperoonie - supposedly bend easily and short out batts...just what i have read in forums tho...i actually dont mind it ;) Would rather the SSG 3racing one tho...looks cooler -lol-

(oh yeah - ZERO cogging too ;) )

omg....umm...just...o......m......g! -lol-
it was crazy! i was only by myself, so i could follow it in the car -lol-....it wasn't AS quick as i thought i was gonna be, cause everyone says the 8000 is an absolute weapon....well.....
i ran it totally stock setup...only thing on my mini-t is...
*Bearings(not very good condition)
*Oil Shocks
*Mamba 8000
*2 cell 1500 mah kokam lipo
*JR NES 371 micro servo (i think thats what they called it? -lol-)

Programming was a piece of cake too They have a chart you can follow, and beeps/rings to tell you what step ur in - it's easier to understand when u actually hear it happening I read it and was a lil confused at first, but then in a couple of seconds of beeps and stuff, you figure it out real quick

Well...i was running on road in a car park for about 10 minutes - and then about 20 minutes off road at the bmx track...all in one battery too - i had no signs of it slowing down, and ran the whole setup stockers - aswell as the esc settings(bar the lipo cutoff)

I was pretty impressed - i would compare it to the speed of my old 1/10 elec - it was a thunder tiger ts4e pro chassis, and i ran a GT7 esc with a 14t double Ti Reedy motor on GP3300 trinity matched cells...i reckon i would have flogged the pants off it!
I would give it about 60kph easy by looking at it, but i really would be guessing...i was so excited when i was running it, i wasn't paying all that much attention tho - sorry guys -lol-

Was real easy to keep in a straight line on bitumen...the hard part was stopping it!
Everytime i would go to touch the brakes, i would put too much brake on, and it would drift out to the side and roll or flip - might have to play with the suspension a lil -lol-

And YES - it is broken now if you were wondering -lmao- it was the only reason i stopped - and it was fine untill i hit a huge jump over a set of doubles and landed nose in -lol-

Broken parts -
*Front bulkhead, kick plate & brace
*Front Shock tower & mount
I *think* thats the name of the parts...i bought the mini-t from a mate, and not sure of part names, so just looked up an exploded view -lol-

Basically, the only thing holding the front end on was the steering ball cups -lmao-
I have NEVER seen something that small fly so far! -lol- I was clearing tripples and massive doubles on the bmx track with it and was giving it an absolute pounding! Well...it lasted for about 20 minutes anyways -lol-

Bottom line...im SO happy i bought this mamba!!!!!!! I wouldnt say the 8000 is overkill either...you can always gear down, and not use as much throttle Speed is always there if u want it
