No I havnt lol from what I can see this heli has a switch which changes it to make it easier to fly? to be honest I dont know anything about helis but im quick to learn!

Ha ha,that's what I did.

Oh I like that,I want one!! hahahahahahaha.

And If I read any of the TA chopper topics I would have got a counter rotating one first, but alas, yet again Ijumped in both feet first.

Ive got the same one,Ive put in probly an hour to an hour and a half on the sim all up,and probly two and a half may three hours with the heli.
A this stage Im on my third set of main blades, and can control a wobly hover in a single car carport for about two minuets befor I get brain fade, panic and drop the revs.

My Advise, get those ping pong ball training skids, only about $12 a your local hobby shop.

Oh and get a flight sim mate, myn is far from the best but you will learn alot very quickly, because you can fly without fear.

Have fun.

Yeh I figured that, still, when it's pissen down with rain and its the last resort. The hardest part is trying to breath in the dust storm it creats.LoL.

You were doing really well too Stone, specially considering the amount of "Mistake Clearance" you had with gym, dog, airhose & spectators raggin on ya all with in a farts distance of disaster.
4-6 hrs on a Sim, like the one you tried today Stone, and it would elliminate the imminent danger of breaking it before getting the revs high enough to take the weight off the skids...but there is plenty of danger and excitement in getting it up higher than hover, more so than putting it away till you get the parts you need from the LHS or wherever.

I guess the Sim would really pay off if/when you get into the higher end of the market/size of the Heli's/planes tho...specially the Jets.

after watching some videos of people crashing these things im actually scared to fly it haha I guess I will have to try and keep it low to the ground for a while haha.

I found a good link that both you and stone might find helpful. the guy drags on a bit but well worth sitting and watching all 5 video's which take you about a hour or if you want to skip to the better parts just watch 3, 4 & 5.

Yes these movies are intended for the Blade CP but they are almost exactly the same heli's.

There is also some interesting comments about the difference between flying helicopters and planes, like the ratchet on the throttle in the first movie.

Ah ha ha,Its bloody hard eh. I havent touched my 4 in 1 yet,to scared Ill mess it up,LoL. I was at perth RC the other day checkin out what parts they had,Preety sure thats on the shelf. Most of the part are very cheep ay,the wood Blades at Perth RC were $4 cheeper than where I got the last pair.

Im about too watch that vid again and set her up a bit,Ive been slack an just flowen it,and that probly makes it harder for me to fly the bugger.

Have you had any time on the/a Sim yet?

I spent a bit of time on that first, then started at just gettin the balls of the ground about an inch and trying to keep it still and facing the right direction.

You must have got preety high to have broken the boom?

TopGear

lol I got about a foot off the ground and it all went wrong haha nah I havnt spent anytime on a sim, I know what the controls do its just a matter of putting it into action lol which sounds easier then it is.......... at the moment im just trying to get a steady hover which is hard enough

Unlucky. Or I hav been very lucky!! Have you got the training balls on yet? If not then that makes more sence. No crap man they worth their weight in gold.

TopGear

yep have the training balls on and they do help alot :) i was practicing in the house and when it hit the ground it hit the wall too which is what made it worse. Sticky Taped boom doesnt work that great :p

The gyro gain adjusts the amount of gain the gyro sends to the tail rotor to stabilize the tail from wind and torque from the rotor. Basically how much the gyro controls the tail. When you get good enough you will want this turned off all the way so that only you control the tail.

The proportional gain does virtually the same as above but its set to stabilize the heli from spinning after you throttle up. An example of this is when you first throttle up the heli will start to turn a little to the left (nose left from memory). this is usually ok, but while in flight if the heli is slowly drifting to the right or left then you can adjust the proportional mix to stop this from happening while hovering.

Oops,I broke my boom now too, lol. Thing is Im not sure what the go is with fixing it,Not sure if the boom is just pushed in like most of the rest of the heli, or if its glued in!?! and I supose I have too unsolder the motor wires too the tail rotor as well! Bugger.

Might as well replace the tail rotor while Im at it,Myn has touched the driveway more than once n the tips look a bit shity now,not to mention shorter!

yeah man I cant get mine out either ~:( lol

SuperRoo

I wont ask how you managed a boom strike. I mean, the last I knew, you were still at the hover stage :p

The boom should be a pressed fit (not glued). I think with the rear section you have to pull the tail skid thingo out to get the boom out of the tail section and you should be able to buy a new tail rotor for it and the carbon rod/boom should be available from your LHS since its not a tapered rod.

haha yeh I should be in the hover stage but I was in the Cocky noob stage lol
