Guys , had a pretty awesome day today , i actually had a day of playing rc and it involved finally maiden flying allot of new planes ive picked up over the years , flew a total of 8 planes today all up .
Here is a big tip for not only the novice but also the pro .
I have always liked to fly my planes tail heavy for a few reasons , 1 cause its allot more responsive and 2dn reason and ive hoped ive never had to go through it but today i did is incase you lose your elevator .
I was flying a model today that i will admit i put through its paces and coming out of a move the linkage came off the elevator so the servo was moving the guy wire but no response .
If i had my model balanced spot on , it would have sort of leveled out very very slowly , if i had it nose heavy ( or still full of fuel ) it would have ditched but being tail heavy , i was able to balance the lack of elevator i had with the throttle to bring it in for a pretty risky but safe landing .
Even though your tail heavy you can still trim your elevator to compensate so you can still fly straight so its not going to affect straight line flight .
Just my little experience today and i hope others might consider it . ( and vamps sorry if i sounded a bit vague when you rang me but i had just landed after the incident )
Just wondering what bounderies other guys here fly in terms of balance .
