Hey everyone,
Just thought I'd post a sneak preview of my Mini-T pro.
I wont reveal whats underneath yet, because there really isnt much to see, but I can tell you its about to be decked out in 3 Racing carbon fibre which is on its way, and a Mamba Competition setup is also on its way.
I've also ordered another shell which needs to be modified to fit an 8 cell pack.....the 2 extra cells sit out the side and push against the body, so I'll have to cut slots for them to sit.
Nothing more hardcore than an RC that has so many cells, that they cant sit inside the shell without having to modify it :P
My mate Ash painted the shell with his airbrush, and it came out awesome.......I've also used aluminium tape on the underside of the shell to reinforce potential weak areas (read: the entire shell), to cope with the ludicrous speed of the Mamba %-6

I'll post a full range of photos in a couple of weeks once the car is completely finished..

I like the body shape! The stock one is so crap.
Is that metallic blue? I was gonna do one metallic blue/white/silver to try match this site

The body is unique to the Mini-T Pro.....I havent seen it available separate as yet!
The colour is Parma Faskolor metallic blue :D

How much is the battery costing? Do you know if you are gonna have to remove the graphite upper deck to put it in?

As far as I know, the upper deck WONT have to be removed because the 2 cells hang out the sides....the battery cost me around 40 bucks Australian, shipped

/anxiously waiting to hear how it goes.

This thing is too fast....its quick with the normal timing setup, but I quickly put it onto extreme...and geez, its fast..
Pulls big wheelies, gets into big rolls at the touch of the throttle, and in general, its way fast. I had the starting power set on low, and there is absolutely no cogging. On high, there is a bit of cogging. I'm yet to program medium setting into it, but I'll try this another time.
The stock pinion kept coming straight off the shaft of the motor, and the tyres like to balloon at higher speeds......this is on a 6 cell, I havent tried my 8 cell yet!!!
In one of the big rolls I had, it popped the steering tie rod straight off, and into oblivion. Rather than paying 5 bucks plus shipping for another one, or waiting for RMS to get it in, I'm making my own out of Tamiya TRF red anodized pivot balls and a pair of Tamiya ball ends that I have at home....I'm going to convert the whole setup to oversized, so it'll be stronger and wont happen ever again ;)

awesome! I cant wait. I'll have it in straight away. I don't see how my standard 'T' will support it though! The only hop up's it has is oil shocks, everything else is standard! haha. I'm going to need Ti turnbuckles, bearings, a slipper, metal pinions, and a ball diff asap.
Joe can you let me know before you order things for your mini-T? incase your getting something I or even the others would like to order too! (group buys!)
I'm going to head to ryper soon and see what they have. They've been saying they are getting 'T' parts in stock for months now with no action. :(

Will do James, before I order anything I'll let you guys know.
Right now I need pinions, and Sam @ Perth RC says he usually has them for 6 bucks each, but they are sold out completely and are on back order...

Oh man, I can't wait to see how fast it is in person!
I'm gonna try again(!) and put an order in with one18th.com next week if anyone needs anything. I'll have to work it out exactly, but as long as it's not big, I shouldn't have to worry about customs.

We need pinions!!!

Yeah, I just bought the last metal pinion perth rc had. It's a 13T. I also picked up a spur gear set and some spare e-clips, which you're gonna need balistc if you're not careful when you install the new chassis.

Well, I got my metal pinions, and both my 6 cell packs...I wont need to run any more than a 6 cell, because its already uncontrollable.
I'm still awaiting my Mamba 8k to return from the USA, once I do...I'll get full chassis photos.
Mine ended up a bit different to everyone elses blinged up beasts...you can call mine "purposeful" rather than blingy, seeing as its all stealth black carbon fibre ;)

Stealth black is still cool :P which was part of the reason for me wanting to build another T out of old parts.

So I just went out and bought a set of street foams, and because my 8000kv is taking so long....I bought a cheap Hi-Mark 5400kv brushless motor. It looks IDENTICAL to the Mamba, but its pink ;)
Its also great for different tracks....for long circuits, I can use the 8000kv. For shorter stuff, I can use the punchier 5400kv motor :)

55 bucks, Perth RC.
Apparently they are identical to the Mamba, and they sure look like it too...and I've heard of people using them in Mini-Ts before, so I know it will be fine :D

can u post a pic? I'd like to see the pink can -lol-
I just put a carbon fibre sticker over my can - looks friggin sweet compared to the green - it was kinda out of place in the red/blue and silver -lol-

Not a really clear shot - but you can see it :)

you know that was a bit of a concern for me too - but it doesn't seem to have affected the temps at all :) It actually runs ok at 120-130f or so, which is about the same temps as it was without the sticker :)
You think it looks cool tho? -lol-

The mamba's cost so much because its a "mamba"
Same way you pay 89 dollars for a Ferrari oil filter, when it looks and works identical to a cheaper Bosch one...except with yellow paint and the Ferrari horse painted on the side.

so balistic for me the idiot can you give me the specs of the one you got instead of the mamba ? so i can track one down instead of a mamba..............
BALISTC
05-05-2005, 08:08 AM
You still need a Mamba ESC though, unless you can find one similar..
I'll give you the specs once I pick my motor up tomorrow

found out about the esc thing when i rang perth r/c today. quoted me 50$ for the hi-mark in 5400/6800/8000 no price diff. but then explained that i needed the mamba esc for another 150$
PHC also doin the same package for 200$ and quoted me 300$ for the mamba 6800.
now considering the mamba pack is about 130$+ postage from BPP....im wondering if anyone in the US does the hi-mark with a suitably cheap speedy for an even better price. worth a look in for those of us whos pockets arnt quite as deep.
