I have 2 dogs next door that just constantly Bark and i mean constantly .

I swear to god if i go outside to even check my mailbox ive triggered them for a good half hour .

Ive done everything by the book which includes speaking to the neighbour ( 3 times now over 6 months ) getting the dogs names and trying to comfort them in a calm voice from my side of the fence to finally resorting to writing the council a letter to which i have been told pretty much dogs are allowed to bark all day but not after 9pm so when im playing outside with my 2 kids in the backyard for a few hours i have to bear these little ****ers constantly barking at full pelt while scratching down the fence from their side .

My question , few years ago i remember there being a kit available that sends a high frequency tone and it would make the dog frek out and stop barking . Jaycar used to sell them but dont anymore as i tried them along with a few other stores to find it , does anyone know where they are available still OR any other solutions .

Im obviously not going to resort to violence against the dogs but need to find a solution as its absolutely rediculous that the owner doesnt really care and that council isnt interested in noise polution . If i dont get these dogs to stop barking very soon , i will be placing a speaker on my borderline of the fence and playing very very loud music conveniently into their backyard so the owners might get the picture .

Buy a cow.

Shoot it.

Chuck it over the fence.

Repeat every week.

I can't even stand my own dog barking :) let alone someone elses. God bless living in the country though.

You may just want one of those little dog whistles. When they bark, blow the whistle. If they stop, chuck a steak over. If they start again, whistle again. Train them.

Dig it?

Here are a couple of links.

The super bark free on the last link looks like the one.But the payment methods and shipping looks a bit dodgey.

Ooops, sorry thats the cure for keeping cats out of your yard

You have to be careful with some of those ultrasonic devices as some of them are considered cruelty to animals by the RSPCA here in WA (dunno who they are in Vic).

You could always get yourself a dog. Our next neighbors have told us many time how much quiter their dog has been since we've had a dog.

My dog goes mental when one of my neighbours goes outside to their shed, or puts clothes on the line, or anything. He's just barking coz he's curious, and anything not normal to him needs to be barked at.

My neighbours haven't complained to me about it, but I have talked to them about it, they say he doesn't bar non stop, just when there's noises or it rains, or a heli or plane goes over, or there's birds.. or, orr... hah

I've tried to train him out of it, but I just haven't trained him hard enough, he is getting better though. Your neighbour ever walk the dogs? they really need excersize to wear them out every day.

I might get a dog whistle or something. And do what lavidicus suggested. blow the whistle, then treat him when he's quiet.

You could try an electronic device, but you wouldn't want to leave it on, thats cruel. you could give it a few bursts when they are noisey, then flick it off when they shuttup :)

love the google ad for dog barking products hahaha

LOL RB Our dogs used to constantly bark so we tried a few different things like:
we had a trainer in to ave a look at em and stuff but that was a waste of money & time,

We then had this electrical collar that you had to push a button when ever they barked which sent a low voltage shock to the dog. that worked okay, until it self destructed on us..
(dog werent wearing it though)

so we tried an automatic electric collar that zapped when they barked and that was just CRAP it reliyed on sound and stupid things like cars would set it off.
NOW we are using citronella collars and they work GREAT! they are a bit costly though but they definatley work. they pick up vibrations from the dogs throat instead of sound to activate and so no more stupid activations!

Well thats all i gotta say.

BTW love ur input Lavidicus!
