Hey everyone,

If you've got a Mamba and your using the stock plastic pinions, be CAREFUL when pressing them onto the shaft.

I did one last night, and now I have about 2-2.5mm of shaft movement in and out of the motor. Before, it didnt have more than about 1mm of shaft movement.

I was worried, until I did some reading and found someone on one18th.com did the same thing. Shawn from Castle Creations replied in that thread and said it wasnt going to be a problem at all, but just to be careful in the future when putting the pinions on.

I tested my motor out, whilst pushing on the shaft, and it doesnt make any noise....and it still goes oh so hard with no ill effect ;)

Also, the shaft doesnt move at all once the motor is attached and the gear mesh is set. In fact, it doesnt move at all even when the motor is out, unless your pressing on it!

So just thought I'd post a warning before anyone does the same thing :)

That's scary to know that something inside is weak enough to allow that to happen. I suppose if you could open it, you could shim it?

I emailed Troy at BPP, and he is going to replace it for me free of charge, apart from the 4.50 shipping cost ;)

Does that mean you will be brushless'less for another couple weeks? Or do you get to keep the one you have?

Well I got a 6 cell, and I ordered another 6 cell...I might also pay the bit extra and upgrade to an 8000kv seeing as I'll be running 6 cell only...thats going to be PLENTY of speed for me!!

Do we know if this is gonna cause a problem? - I really dont wanna go "brushless'less" for a couple weeks :(

I'd almost rather run this and buy a new replacement motor when it dies - but can you buy the motors seperate? - i heard somewhere they arent selling the motor seperately - but im sure someone would be able to sell one seperate - right?

U can buy them separate, they are about 70 US dollars...its not going to cause ANY problems, but I have other plans for my motor thus the reason I'm sending it back ;)

Thanks for the heads up. I was just thinking, if it weren't for Perth RC luckily having one single metal pinion left, I would have had the same problems as you guys and be even more pissed off. :)
