Ok guys, I'm gonna be ordering some stuff from one18th.com and blindbatts.com on sunday or monday.

If you want anything, let me know and maybe we can save a bit of postage or at least make sure the order is big enough not to get lost...Obviously though, I want to keep the total cost down so we don't attract customs duty.

Im ordering a couple motors, batteries, pinions and probably some random stuff.

PM me to let me know if you want anything, and I'll see what I can do.

James

OK, I'm also ordering from Modelflight.com.au and Tower, so if you guys can find parts you need there as well, PM me with the exact page/model number etc.

Juls said he can get Team Orion pinions any time, if we do an order...I'll be ordering some today, but apart from that, I dont need ANYTHING ;)

So if anyone wants pinions, let me know!

Did he say how much they were?

BALISTC
11-03-2005, 10:18 AM
Nope, and I cant find them online either..

I'm just gonna order the Integy ones from one18th seeing as I need other stuff from them already.

BALISTC
11-03-2005, 12:30 PM
Okay get some for me too :P

justo316
11-03-2005, 12:36 PM
What set? There's two 8-10T and 12-14T I think, or something like that

BALISTC
11-03-2005, 12:58 PM
Ask me when you come past tomorrow morning, and I'll do a quick tooth count on my chewed out plastic pinions..

James
11-03-2005, 01:31 PM
justo, i want both sets of integy pinion's... get prices. I'm in. :)

justo316
11-03-2005, 01:50 PM
James - Pinion sets are US$11 each plus US$17 EMS postage. So, buying with me, it will cost US$22 plus a fraction of that postage (to be worked out after I figure out how much stuff everyone wants). At a guess, I'd say *at least* US$5.

This goes for everyone else too.

justo316
11-03-2005, 01:52 PM
Just to confirm, the Integy pinion sets are either 8-10T or 11-14T.

justo316
11-03-2005, 01:55 PM
And keep in mind, you can get the spur gear set locally for less than 10bux, so might not be necessary to get both pinion sets.

BALISTC
11-03-2005, 02:02 PM
Yeah I'll have the same, thanks :)

justo316
11-03-2005, 02:05 PM
No problem.

James
11-03-2005, 02:22 PM
now that I think about it, I might go just the 11-14 kit. 8-10 is weak, mwahaha

BALISTC
11-03-2005, 02:36 PM
Hmmmmm

Yeah I might go the 11-14 too, cos I dont think my stock pinions are any bigger or smaller than that.

Either way, like I said, I'll do a tooth count and let u know :)

Balistc- What pinions you want?

RC_King - You definate on the Beast motor? I'm still getting one!

justo316
12-03-2005, 07:26 PM
No, Beast Raptor ;) But the Dyno tuned one by one18th.com

justo316
12-03-2005, 07:39 PM
hahaha...gonna need to stiffen up that rear end too! You just reminded me I have an Orion Big Block motor sittin here doing nothing. I should try that and see how it goes before I sell it.

justo316
12-03-2005, 07:49 PM
for mini-t or any other micro cars. It's small, 280 size I think, a bit bigger than the stock

justo316
12-03-2005, 07:59 PM
I dont know abnout the bearings, you'd have to check the net.

I got it years ago when I had my HPI Micro RS4. I actually ordered the Orion Elite Modified, but for some reason the guy at Perth RC insisted on ordering me the Big Block which cost me $110. I found out later that the Elite would have cost more! Anyway, in the micro, this thing ruled! It was flat out, the fastest motor that would fit for a long time I think.

In the mini-t, I've heard it's not near as good as the Beast, Baja etc...but people still buy them cos they're better than the stock and speed losi motors.

I have a feeling it's a high revving focused motor, rather than high torque.

justo316
12-03-2005, 09:13 PM
Well if you wanna try it out you can, as long as you dont melt it :P hahaha. I work on a "you broke it, you bought it" policy

Guys, 11-14T pinions are out of stock. Im getting 8-10T. Need to know if you want to change to these?

justo316
13-03-2005, 01:57 AM
Yikes! Just out of curiosity, I checked how many pinion sets one18th had left. I'm getitng the last one!

One18th.com order placed. Sorry guys. You'll have to pick a pinion from towers catalogue if you want them and let me know cos Im ordering from there Sunday night.

Titanium screw set. They are GPM, but I've heard they work fine and are the only titanium set around.
Ordering these tonight. Only 3 sets left apprantly.

BALISTC

I'll pass on the screw set because my 3 Racing chassis came with a whole bunch of screws, and I dont know if the GPM ones will be suitable.

As for pinions, I've PMed you Justo..

i saw those GPM ti screws last night and was gonna post it up but u beat me to it -lol-

The place i seen em at were out of stock tho, so i got a hexhead screw kit from hexheads.com for the mini-t and LST ;)

justo316
14-03-2005, 12:15 PM
I'm going to wait on the screws. I was only gonna get them cos of the bumper, but since I glued the stock one back on, it's doing fine.

Probably just me, but I can't stand hex screws! They strip so much more often! And then when they do, they're a beeyatch to get out.

-lol- i find i strip way more phillips heads than hexes - maybe i just got shit drivers - but the hexes are always good for me -lol-

I'm proud to say I've never stripped a hex screw :D

hey guys, i thought u might wanna know i found some higher tooth alum pinions if you're interested :)
go to rcmart, and look up their mini-t hop ups and such :) ATOMIC is the name of the company that makes em...they have up to 20T pinions!!! i ordered an 18T and a 20T, with a heap of other stuff...Not sure on shaft size tho - its not listed, but i ordered em anyway, so i'll let you know when they get here if they fit or not -lol-

i got a list of all the stuff i've ordered for my mini-t here if you wanna check it out....i been buying up everywhere! waiting on lots of stuff -lol- http://www.rcportal.tk/ go to "losi electric" - there's a mini-t thread in there - "It Doesn't Work!!!" is my s/n there :)

My motor gets pretty hot with a 14T pinion and stock spur. If anything, I'm going less teeth.

Then again, I don't really know how hot is hot? All I know is it gets hot :P

-lol- me either - although i have heard +170 farenheit is too hot for the mamba line of motors? - dunno if that helps any, but just thought i'd let you know :) That Shawn Palmer guy mentioned he was using M18 18t pinions on his mamba, although i dont remember what mamba it was :(

justo316
15-03-2005, 03:03 PM
Yeah Ive read 170+ is bad, but again, how hot is 170+?

Shawn said I could use any pinion due to the huge amounts of torque available. I don't believe him. I've read a lot of his posts, and when I found out he was the marketing manager (or similar) I don't trust him anymore.

The guy claimed he tested the mambas for hours and hours battery pack after battery pack each night, yet he never came across cogging?! Something seems a bit off there.

I have a temp gun, so i can figure it out like that, but i'm not sure how hot it would be without the temp gun...i know with nitros that you can do that spit test, but i think thats only for over 200f? Water boils at 200 or so doesnt it? i think they put spit on the head to check engine temps on nitros - if it sizzles away quickly its too hot...thats about all i can do for you man - sorry d00dus :(

ooooo - i agree on that one....i have never read many of his posts, i have just asked him a few questions expecting him to know better -lol-

You would think he would have come across the cogging, especially if he was testing batts - although i read somewhere it's supposed to be a "high powered application" - and supposedly they assumed ppl would just know they had to use good batts....hang on...didnt i read that here somewhere???

Bit of a touchy one...i dunno...i'll let you know if my mamba burns itself out or not when i get those new pinions 8)

justo316
15-03-2005, 04:10 PM
I think the "high powered application" bit was an afterthought to try cover up the distinct need for nothing below GP cells. Shawn said they were in the process of adding something to their site to specify the need for good cells. Don't know why it's so hard to put a little fine print note up there now.

i never thought of it like that - and im surprised actually, cause i usually find the bad in everything -lol-
It doesnt bother me too much at all anyways - i love my lipos -lol-

justo316
16-03-2005, 09:33 AM
So funny that I've been opposed to lipos because of the 'explosive' factor, and after voicing my opinion here the other day, the day after, my nimh pack I made blows up....hahaha :D

BALISTC
16-03-2005, 09:40 AM
That is a bit ironic ;)

I'm DEFINITELY sticking with NiMHs, I love being able to control the Mini-t whilst still going really fast...the lipos wont allow me to do that!

justo316
16-03-2005, 09:45 AM
Yeah, from what Ive seen with 8cell nimh, that is as fast as I'd want to go....for now. Amen sister!

You know if one of us invested in the USB link for the mamba 25, then we could adjust the throttle and brake curves, etc.

I honestly think Lipo's are the way to go, why are all the serious USA 'T' people running lipo? Even if you go two cell...

It will be a while before I goto lipo, as the initial outlay is high for me (require lipo charger also)...

I might look at the charger next week actually. probably Duratrax ICE, for about $230. then wait till you fools relise lipo is the bomb, then we'll group buy some from the USA...

I was a bit funny about em at first cause of the explosive thing too, but now i have em, i wouldnt use anything else! Run times are far greater when i compare the difference with my setups, and heaps more power too....

The charging thing tho, well, the charger kinda does all the work for you - all you have to do is make sure the settings are correct - my batts stay totally cold throughout a charge - the charger i have only has one charge function kinda thing - once it's plugged in, it just starts charging it. Just gotta make sure you dont charge a batt after it's just been charged and your fine :) It can do a 3cell aswell ;)

The weight is a plus, and a negative at the same time...lighter is faster, but handling isnt as good as it is with the extra weight of the nimh's - it's almost TOO light -lol- I got all the alum bits anyway, so hopefully that will weigh me down and counter it out -lol-

Remember - you only need to spend about $50-90 aussie on a charger ;) And tower sells 2cell 1500mah lipos with fmale deans connectors already on it for about USD$28 (AUD$35-40?)
For the price of that ICE charger, you could have 3x 2cell 1500mah lipos AND a charger ready to go :)

You'd only really need the ICE maybe for something like larger mah lipos or something...Prolux make a green lipo charger that the Lhs here sells for $50 :) I bought their Novatech charger for $80...It'll charge a 2 or 3cell, but not sure up to what mah it takes, or even if it has such a limit - not sure.

But man, you can do lipos on the cheap too - especially for mini scale applications! Out of curiousity - how much is your best battery from new, and what did ur charger cost u?
(i hope that's gonna make my point - u better not have scored em cheap or something -lol- j/k)
