Well ... I delivered some consumables to one of our clients in Subiaco this morning and thought I'd have a quick look in Perth Hobby Centre...

I walked out with a Mini-T, Shock Kit, Losi 7.2V 1100mAh Batt, Venom 7.2v 1200mAh batt and a Duratrax Ice Charger.

I dropped it all home a little while ago but I am really itching to give it a burl!

Lucky it was my birthday on Sunday, I can tell the other half I brought myself a present ;)

shame you didnt buy a motor for it too, the stock one will dissapoint you, you'll melt it in a pack or two!

whats their ICE charger worth? gotta get one!

congrats on your purchase, mwahaha

Nah no motor, I plan to get one of those Mamba motors from Model Flight in a few weeks :)

The Ice Charger was $217. It had $239 on it but Rob @ PHC was good to me and gave me 10% on everything I brought this morning.

I can see this Mini-T will be a money pit for a while. I am glad I brought it - It'll give me something to do durring winter this year :D

Congrats BB. Chalk up another win for the T! Try B-p-p.com for the mamba. You'll save heaps if you don't mind waiting a couple weeks.

I got a free Venom batt, but I found the wires to be way too thin. I took it apart and resoldered chunky wires on. Ran a lot better. Nowhere near as good as my GP pack though.

The Venon Batt was around $26 after 10% off

Was ~ $30 shelf. Just tell Rob that BB told you about the 10% off on the web site ... I think he'll do the same :)

If you want a Losi Speed motor as a mild upgrade before you get your Mamba, you can have my brand new one for 20 bucks :)

thats a bit of a bugger.

I work in Balcatta and live in Westminster (5Km's from each other).

I don't have any runs into Perth currently. I have no plans over the weekend - Send me a PM and we'll see what we can work out :)

Hmmm 7.2 Pack on a stock Mini-T ... *Zip Zoom*

Not bad when comparing it to 4 x AA cells :)

Really curious to see on of these mamba's go now!

7.2 pack on a stock mini-t doesn't even come close to a mamba powered T ;)

Joined the Mamba 8K crew yesterday. Picked up a unit second hand that had been hardly used.

Geared low (60/11) with a trinity pinion. All I can say is DAMN! Asbsolutely love it, run time of around 15 minutes (fully pegged).

Fixed the cogging issues, used Normal power start and smoothed out the throttle with a throttle curve on the R1.

This thing sure goes lik the clappers. Been looking at Model Flights 30 Amp discharge Li-Po's ... Really tempted to see how fast this thing goes for $80. One of the guys was running a Li-Po in his 8K yesterday "Holy Shit" was all I could musta!

What's your gear mesh like BB? I can't mesh a 10T pinion withthe spur on so I'd imagine an 11T would just be barely hanging on there?

Bowling Ball

Gear mesh is fine. I do the "tooth rock" test when setting mesh. I did file out the motor plate to suit the brushless mounting tho - maybe you need to do some filing?

I have a 9 tooth pinion too (I have the Trinity odd set). But thought that would be a tad too tall a ratio

ahhh. yet another reason why I need to get a file.

wow, that looks trick! and I see you changed the mamba switch to a decent toggle.. nice.

I installed an HS81MG in my 'T' on the weekend, and it actually goes well now! much happier! :)

sure hope bayswater is in good nic for this fri night, otherwise I might goto Ryper after work for a hack.

Yeah the HS81MG is sweet...mine stopped working but it was because the wires were pinched, so I sorted that out pretty quick.

The Mamba 8k is ridiculous...its not useable for racing whatsoever, so now I have a Hi-Mark 5400.

I had to slot the mount holes a tiny bit on the motor plate, but apart from that, its awesome!!

Mamba 8K with 5 or 6 cells is OK for racing the big track. I suggest 12/60 gearing for 6cell and 13-14/60 for 5cell :)

8 Cell and 8k on the big track is fun tho .... wheel stands all around the track makes the crowds go wild ;)

I'm running Mamba 6800 (on LOW SETTING)
12 / 60 gearing
6-cell KAN1050 pack's.

I believe this is PLENTY for the big track. I'll know for sure fri night. if i think I can handle more, I'll up the mamba to medium or high, but I doubt I'll use extreme.

gotta admit BB, the crowd loves psycho mini-T action! hahaha.. some of the comments are funny.

now we just need to get them to "fly" straight :) hahaha

James

speaking of servo's.. up a bit...

I was going to get the HS85MG (a lot of the USA people r using them) till i saw the price (over $70)... for under $40 for the HS81MG, I couldnt go past it.

I tested ea servo before purchasing, to make sure that it "centres" properly. all good...

the HS81 and 85 are DAMN FAST! (well, compared to my HS55 crap).... dammmn fast. :) turn the radio and WHAAAM! :)

it better not fkn rain this week. I'm guessing there will be a small busy bee sometime this week to fix the track for fri night, coz it's gonna be f*cked after what i saw last fri night :(

Heh! You worried about loosing your Mini-T in the ruts James?

it wont need much work. Its been like that before, just need to go out and thump the ground to dust on the corner than enters the straight (its what we did last time.. LOL)

Servos - Yes, the 81MG is a .08 at 6Volts so its the same speed as my 1/10th servos. I happen to like fast servos, its easier to get the truck sideways when the traction is up.

Just calculated my 18t with 8k mamba, 10 cells, 14/55 gearing, and monster slicks, should pull 128kph :D

Yeah no worries, as long as you can keep the thing in a straight line and not run over me!
