I was wondering the best way to take off tyres without damaging the rims.
fill a small tub up with acetone, leave it overnight and the tyre will come of easily

and by a tub, the best is prob an old paint tin or similar

but won't the acetone dissolve or destroy the plastic of the rims?

You dont eve have to immerse the whole thing in acetone. Cut up a soft drink can and put it in the botton of the jar, add an inch of acetone, or enough so that the top of the can isnt submersed, and put the wheel ontop of it. Put the lid on and leave over night, the fumes from the acetone should dissolve the glue, leaving the wheel completely unmarked.

or cut the tyre off at the bead stick rim plus bead in acetone and glue will go over night and rims will some up nice and clean aswell
