That's it Kai, keep 'em guessing. Photos wouldn't do any good, you've got to come and drive it on Sunday. We've done a bit more fine tuning since the weekend and probably a little more during the week so it should be sweet for the Bombshell.

Lazer_ZB5
11-03-2008, 10:28 PM
but does it go under the "table top" onto the s's?

Yes, there is a crossover, but the track overall is a bit more technical and interesting. Will keep your butt-cheeks clenched for more of a lap!

Nissanmania

I would say yes. Did a few test laps with the Bowtie-shod truck last night and worked OK. Surface is a bit loose but hoping that some moisture between now and Sunday will help here.

great to hear the carine track has a new lease in life as far as the track is concerned.

The bombshell should be a good meet to test out the new track modifications.

will there be food and drinks available for the bombshell?

what about electricity / power?

who will be running the race computer on the day?

Nissanmania
12-03-2008, 07:27 PM
There will be food and drinks on the day. Roast meat rolls ready for lunch was the plan.

There's 2 power points available so bring a long extension cord and double adapter or powerboard to share it around.

WAORMA are not providing timing personnel but should have this sorted by then.

you guys really have no idea,or simply do not listen at all. come speak to me at the event.

so what is waorma doing apart from taking a slice of the money?

Simon, for this particular event, WAORMA actually has done ALOT. They are all background activities that needed sorting out and Im not going to discuss them in this environment where words and certain attitudes can blind the truth of the matter.

If you want to know the facts, come see me in person.

However, I will say this: It is the CLUB's responsibility to ORGANISE and LIASE with people to host an event. Not WAORMA.

It is not the responsibility for WOARMA to supply timing systems to a club. That is the club's responsibility to organise and sort out.

WAORMA is merely a governing body, not an event promoter.

Your intention with the above quoted comment was a double edged sword. Any educated person can see that. However, please understand and read up on the FACTS before starting a slagging match.

thanks

Alex

OK.
Alex, why is this NOT the appropriate forum for WOARMA's efforts to be made public? I would've thought this was the perfect opportunity to illustrate exactly why WOARMA is worthwhile and what it had done to organize the Bombshell. Transparency is the only way to quiet the questions that are being asked...here is your chance to "educate" the rest of us ignorant souls.
The idea that 60% of race fees are going to WOARMA, who have had a Stock-Shell(as far as I am aware) Trophy made and will have 2 perpetual trophy's engraved is a bit "off" in my book...specially when the insurance & timing equipment are being provided by West Coast(in an effort to help Carine).

Over the last 12mths when this question has been asked, there has been a general "We do everything and you do nothing"(plus dressing down like children too mind you) reply, but the question has remained unanswered.

This is not a personal attack or an attack on WOARMA(so please do not go on the defensive) but I would genuinely like to know what exactly has been done by the organization to get this event to happen. And as someone who contributes financially to the organization, in the same way as other racers do, I think I am entitled to ask what I am getting for my money. Moreover, I think this is the perfect forum to do it.
Formulate the answer in the same way you like answers to be given to you(legal like so there is no mistaking the statement) and let everyone see why they need WOARMA.

Aari, tried to return your call.

i'm just repeating a question asked of me, and what you have said is the reason.
if its not a waorma event and noone is getting points why is waorma getting a cut of the entry fees?

its no double edged sword and i'm not trying to start a slagging match, i got asked as a wc committee member and i couldn't answer the question.

Mazimbwe
13-03-2008, 04:27 PM
As I understand it...if it isn't a WOARMA event then there will be no "cut" going their way.

But that makes me wonder what the background activities are/were?

golumn
13-03-2008, 05:33 PM
Aari, if you had asked that during our phone call, i would have told you. Alex, as WAORMA Secretary, has produced the Entry forms, and taken the Entries down, and if it was anything like the Hardman Cup, I believe it will be sorted for the race director to put into the computer nice and easy. Now this is one of the main things to do, and Alex didnt really need to do it. Now I will post in a new thread the Responsibilities of both WAORMA and the Clubs so that in future we do not have all this CRAP of Why is WAORMA even Needed. Now these comments only seem to come from a few ppl, and these ppl always complain and dont want to help out or find out the reasons behind it all. End of Rant.

errr...Gav the questions from me are just that.
I am prepared to help out, as I have demonstrated, and I resent the "always complain" comment.
Asking questions is not complaining.

When on the phone I did ask you to expand on the simple answer you had given(that the event is not a WOARMA event). And I look forward to the new thread.

I haven't avoided answering the questions asked of me regarding club business and I don't see why this issue always gets so personal...nothing more than a question FFS.

Well said gav.If some of the WAORMA comittee hadnt intervened this event may not have happened and there would have been some angry people after the event. This is a Carine event run by the club with all prophits going to the club including entry fees.Mix up last night with fee allocation.
Mind you it has disapointed me that the Carine club haven't helped themselves behind the scenes in the organisation of the event.I am always free to answer questions relating to Waorma and racing in WA.

Nissanmania

I certainly didn't intend to open a can of worms over who is or isn't helping with timing at the Bombshell. I can say now that we (all 4 of us at the moment at Carine) are trying to keep the flame alive and provide an alternative venue for EP RC racing in Perth. We appreciate West Coast's and WAORMA/s help in getting our interclubs happening. There is no doubt that without this help at the moment there wouldn't be any events at Carine.

Bacon and egg rolls for brekkie sound good but we don't have the manpower to make it happen unfortunately. Maybe next time.

Guys,

Most of you were at the AGM.

WAORMA takes $5 per entry to keep it running. Remember WAORMA takes nothing from the States any more.

With affiliation and $5 per entry, this only just covers Medallions and Trophies at end of year.

In fact last year made a loss.

Have all Clubs paid their affiliation?

The Hardman and the Bombshell were in fact made WAORMA events. This means run under WAORMA/AARCMCC format and rules.

The WAORMA Rules clearly state that the individual clubs are responsible for running there own events.

If a club has difficulty, then approach WAORMA and they can try to source someone to help.

If anyone has questions please ask Alex, and then if he has a question then he can research actuals. All the information is in the minutes.

I commend the Carine Club for their efforts, and look forward to racing this event.

Good to see West Coast stepping up, as this may cover items of concern such as insurance.

Track sounds challenging, and sounds good for the event. May need to check before the Interclub however to ensure track meets actual specifications. I have a suggestion which I will put forward at the event.

All in all a good effort. Pity to see things getting a bit out of hand in this thread.

Look forward to seeing you all there.

Regards,

Peter Suckling

I dont know how many times waorma has told all the drivers and all the clubs about what waorma does during the year and why it takes money for certain events. No more. speak to your delegates who should be passing the info on to everyone after the meetings at interclubs.Race fees have nothing to do with anyone bar the carine club. everyone sees things as black and white but its far from the truth.
Its the same old people who dont listen at meetings and argue about waorma every year.

The track is different - whether its better or worse is a matter of opinion. If Up on1 has tested it out - you were trespassing! And yes, the new bits are a bit loose but have got the sprinklers reworking (are connected to park system so we have no control of these) which will settle the loosest parts of the track. But its quite driveble. Unfortunately with the closure of the school adjacent we have pretty much lost our only meagre supply of water so can't wet the track down.
