Hey blokes , every time i switch on my bloody pc , i get seriously about 15 bloody pop up screens in the bottom right corner where the clock is , their the ussual " you are connected to the internet " , " updates available " , " Connected to bla bla network " and they all go on and dont go off the screen till i click them closed and when i do then pops up the next 1 .
Its starting to shit me coz every time i boot up the pc i have to go through a good 3 minutes of closing those little bubble notifications .
How do you disable notifications

-Leave your computer on all the time :)
-Check in Startup under the Programs menu and see what if any programs are in there and delete the ones that annoy you but just make sure they are not programs that are vital to your operating systems.
Access each program that appears in your notification area and check to see if there is a option to stop the program from opening when windows opens.
As an example everytime you update windows messenger it will go back to its default settings and one of those settings is to start when the system is started. The only way to stop it is to go into tool / options / general and uncheck the first 3 boxes under general.
I dont know what the other programs are but at a guess I can suggest a few are from Adobe for acrobat and photochop, maybe a antivirus program, Java and of course windows update.

If its saying theres updates, getting the update will stop it telling you theres updates.

goto start --> control panel --> security centre
Click the link on the left that says "Change the way security centre alerts me"

No can do .
I bought this laptop Legit brand new and it came with a recovery disk , i changed the HDD to bigger a while back with this disk and it loaded xp no probs but when i did an update it kept coming up constantly on my pc that i was running a non genuin copy of XP .... go figure . So stuff the updates till i get another PC which wont be long the way this piece of shit acers going .
Ohh PS ... dont ever buy an acer anyone , DVD burner faulty in first 6 months , they replaced and the next 1 blew just out of warranty , the keys miss beats when you type and my battery is officially TOTALLY dead . Biggest piece of crap lpatop ive ever had although the widescreen is grouse and it does still look beute .

Extensa 2300 i know it was over $1300 but it was like 2 or 3 years ago when you couldnt buy a laptop for under $1000 .
Had the widesc reen , dvd burner wifi , blue tooth ... had heaps more features than allot on the market at the time

Only good thing about Acer is they have a local service centre - cos you're going to need it!
