no sound

the sound has gone on my computer, ive downloaded somthing called driver detective but still couldnt get the sound back.
do i have to re install windows xp?

You could...
First, run a virus scan then Put the start-up disk in and reboot the puter and choose "repair" the installation Em...then get back to us.
