Finally got my hands on one of these Tamiya CR-01 FJ40's.
Nice little kit to put together unless you dont have a electric screw driver then it would be a big job.
Every thing went together with ease and the instructions were easy to understand, just like almost every Tamiya kit that I've built so far. About the only thing I can pick on is the shims in the diffs. They say to put .1mm shims on the outside of all the bearings but this cause really bad binding on the pinion gear so I had to remove two of them on the axles to allow the crown to spin freely on the pinion.
Out of the box the articulation is lacking a little but with the torsion bars removed it definitely comes to life. I cant wait to get it out on the rocks to have a real play.
I havent had time to paint the original body and I havent decided what colour its going to be either. Probably midnight blue with a white top and white flares. The body that is on it is a Proline Land Cruiser body that is about 20mm longer than the Tamiya FJ40 body but it will do until I figure out a paint scheme.
