View Full Version : Pinions keep coming off

Anyone got any ideas how to keep these damn pinions on the mamba shaft?

I managed to get mine to stick with loctite, but stupidly, I took it off and now I can't get it to stay on again.

At the moment, I've run some CA onto the shaft, let that dry, then put loctite down the center of the pinion as well as coated the setscrew and setscrew hole. I've put it on and will wait overnight to try it. There's got to be a better way. I can't afford to wait a day to try out new pinions.

The shaft on the Beast Raptor is nice. It's a snug fit and it has mesh for the setscrew to grab onto.

Not that I have a file, but I'm a bit worried about weakening the shaft by filing a flat spot...I guess if it doesn't hold this time, I'll have to give it a shot though.

A flat spot is the recommended way to do it......even Shawn at Castle Creations recommends it if your pinions keep coming off!

I'll be doing it as soon as my 8k arrives...its been sent so I should see it soon! :)

Why the hell don't they pre-file a flatspot on it???
