After recently getting my Kyosho Sandmaster back on the road after sorting out some clutch problems my run time was cut short because of this....

The tyres had come off their rims. Close inspection showed that they had been previously glued, but only by a small tack of glue on each side of the rim. This would usually be enough and makes it easier to change tyres later down the track.
A re-glue would be necessary so I brought the truck in for a pitstop

I took the wheels off and removed the tyres completely from the rims.
Then I put them on the sink and came them a quick clean to get rid of all the gunk. You would be amazed at how much crap comes off them

A trick I learnt when gluing the tyres on the Mad Bison was to turn the tyres inside-out after washing them. Otherwise it is very hard to dry the inside as water gathers in the walls.

When the rims/tyres were pretty dry I put the tyres on the rims like this.....

It also looks like the previous owner ran this car without tyres for some Mr. Drifto action. I might try in sometime.

Then I took the wheels to the bathroom and hairdried them so they were completely dry.
Having the tyres on like that makes it easier to put them on properly without getting glue everywhere.
I then put 3 small dabs of glue spaced evenly around each side on the rims.
Them you pinch the tyre and pull it into the ridge so it makes contact with the glue.
All done. 8)

did you only put 3 dabs of glue on each tyre so that its enough to grab, but also allow the tyre to come off the rim when the tyre is worn?
ive used no glue - im worried that i wont get the tyre off and i'll have to buy another bloody pair of rims.
is this the first time youve glued the tyres??

Yeah, three dabs should be enough (6 dabs per tyre) to stop it coming off and a sharp screwdriver or knife will be able to get the tyres off if you need to replace them.
I glued the tyres on the Mad Bison, the problem with it was not the tyres coming off but the rims spinning in the tyres. The instruction manual says specifically NOT to glue them because it helps prevent gearbox damage. Screw them, sometimes the Bison would start going backwards down a hill the rims were spinning so much.
Now it launches, who cares if the gearbox goes. It was beefed up from the TG-10 when they made the TMG-10 anyway.
