Well as you probably saw in the pics i picked up my Kyosho Inferno MP last weekend.
It wasnt running when i bought it - busted pull start, so im wrapped to finnally have it running. I used a few tutorials off the net for tuning etc etc.
So far ive
-Bought new glow battery
-new glow plug
-fixed pull starter
-cleaned whole buggy down
-repacked the diff's
-adjusted the throttle & brake linkages
-retuned the air/fuel mixtures.
Luckily the car came with HEAPs of spares, so i made use of what i had. After beating the dude down to a rediculous level coz it wasnt running, im wrapped to have it working for under $20 hah. score.
Man the thing hammers! still havent had it at full throttle backyard not big enough and the batteries in the remote must be getting sad coz out the front the car took off and i couldnt control it haha.. had me running for a while! eek!
I'm gonna take it somewhere tomorrow to hackup properly, ill take some action shots with the digi cam.
Cheers :)

what a feeling huh! its awesome!!
whats your plans to do with this one? will it be your car to drive anywhere anytime or will you get into some racing?
theres meant to be real good off road track at whiteman park for 1/8th cars and its nitro only (no electric). ive only seen piccies but the track looks real large.
can you keep us posted on how the car goes for you? and on any upgrades/mods you do to it. i think we would all like to hear progress reports on this one!!

What did you pack you diff with?
I used handy oil on mine but I think that might be bad :(
I have wheel bearing grease for real cars but i thought it might be too thick

Hey Man, yeah it is a good feeling!
Well, this was just a starter car to me to see how much i get into it I guess. Didnt want to spend a bucket then realise i got bored of it after a week.
I would like to at least get it on some real tracks to hack it up on.
As for mods, well knowing me ill prolly have to put a bigger engine into it or something. I know its already partly modded. I can see some non-standard parts but dont know what they are called to tell you :) Basically a few of the plastic parts have been swapped for cast items, obviously for strenght.
AS for the diffs, well i suppose theres probably some 'special' stuff from the Hobby store u get, but no doubt its exy. I used high grade, high temp automotive bearing grease. I didnt completely fill it up, but its waaaaay smoother than when i got it.

RC specific diff oils arent really THAT expensive, try using some silicon diff oil, they are great :)
speaking of oil. back in my younger days, my old man used singer sowing machine oil but i cant remember where he used it. in the shockies? between the pinion and spur gear? inside the gearbox? ... people used it a LOT then.

Haha singer oil! yeah man, i used that on my yo-yo's back in school.
Got them spinning awesomely!!!
Don't know how you guys pack your diff's with oil tho. Seems like an impossible task. Grease seems to work fine IMO.

I half packed my Sandmasters diff with wheel bearing grease on the weekend.
No good :(
WAY too much resistance. I only half packed it so there would still be space for the grease to move.
No matter, only a 30min job, i'm going to clean it out tonight and use handy oil (aka sewing machine oil).

You dont "pack" the diffs with oil as such, you fill them :)
My RR Evo has sealed front and rear diffs, so you can put oil in them and nothing leaks out..

Haha yeah man, you dont pack it right up. Maybe your grease was too thick also.
I dont think my diff would take oil. dont think its that sealed. I'll have a look in the manual for what it recommends, pretty sure it was grease tho. Suppose they are all different tho arent they.

I only half filled it. but the grease is pretty thick, in that I picked it up with the end of my screwdriver to apply it.
You live and learn I suppose

i made the mistake of putting some grease on my spur/pinion gear. lucky i didnt run the car like that, huge resistance and mess everywhere. quickly removed it all... put just a few drops of oil here and there.

WTF?
I got the Sandmaster out to empty the diff and put some handy oil in instead.
There is now barely any resistance at all :O
Some grease had squeezed out the back of the spur gear shaft and must have freed the whole thing up.
Saved me taking the whole thing apart anyway.
