its back to 66 after a low today of 64 when it opened, but we still have full day of trading yet. and 64 was the official rate so the bank would screw you a couple of cents when you use your bankcard overseas.
i saw on the weekend a travel agent who does the money conversion stuff was only offering 59c for travellers cheques so you are really screwed if you are going on holidays.

Amazing thing is I need steering knuckles and caster blocks for my Slash (weekend carnage) even WITH the dollar and postage it's still cheaper to get it from amainhobbies than locally.
And these are $3-$4 bits overseas. $12-$15 here?

LOL King, isnt the feeling mutual between the LHS's and Nexx? :P
I just checked some pricing, and it is in fact $35 cheaper to buy a Losi 8ight-T from radiomodels, than to import one! Without even factoring in postage!

Yes nex we all know you hate the LHS in perth.
Not necessarily I bought my DX3r locally, my Sphere TC locally, my Lipos locally.
Some things are cost effective to get here, some aren't

The AU dollar took a dive because the US federal treasury (i think it was) put 400billon dollars onto the market at a cheap rate and they sold like hotcakes and thus everyone in the world dumped there AU dollars and brought elsewhere, so we took a big hit.

ohh well , seeing my purchase was for $2300US and the AU$ is now down to 61c ive cancelled my purchase from OS as its officially now cheaper to buy here which is allready overpriced .
What pisses me off hardcore is that i wasted so much time procrastinating on buying the item that the $ went from pretty much dollar for dollar to half its value so im the dickhead and its the classic case of seeig something cheap for ages then when you want it all of a sudden its expensive .

yep, i'm in the same boat, been deciding what lenses to buy before i bought a new camera body and thought i would order it all at the same time, now the body has gone from 1800 to 2500. its a bitch.
cant believe it was 70 cents on friday and nows its 60 again. a 10 cent move in one working day is fked.

Ive been looking at vintage tamiya bodys and im not too impressed with the price jump of 30% , sorta glad im not casing a big ticket item because that would be on hold for awhile at these current prices, just cant bring myself to buying anything on ebay or online shops now.

I did buy a decent amount of stuff while the dollar was good, but I'm wishing I bought a lot more. Some things in Perth were reasonably priced compared to the U.S even with the good dollar (once you include shipping), but others had way too much difference in price for me to not buy in the U.S, even after you paid for shipping.
The 2 motors I've used in my truggy cost ~$260U.S or ~$275 AUS when I bought my second one. Now it would be ~$430 AUS
Something I think would have been really cool to do if you were smart enough to see the dollar falling before it happened would be to buy some small (cheap shipping) expensive things, that wouldn't be too hard to re-sell, like good watches or jewelery.
Say you spend $1000 US on something, at 97 c in a dollar it would be it would be $1031 AUS and say $1100 after shipping.
Now that the dollar is 60 c sell it back to someone over there for $1000 US and it's now worth $1666 AUS, $566 has appeared from nowhere. Or a larger scale way of doing that would be even better.

Dipped below 60c over night, glad I bought 3 sets of Jaco tyres in my last Amain order when the dollar was 90c, now at $34.99 USD they become a VERY expensive race tyre.
Buying a bit more locally now, grab store's old stock before the price rise follows through from the importers.

yeah good call there Nexx , might do the same coz i reckon its an excuse in general for any business to up their prices even if their not affected by the $au
