ok - so i bought the Trinity on and off roads, and havent really been able to use em properly.
The offroads snapped my 3racing cvds right where the thread starts for the locknut. At first i thought it was a bad landing, and it was from the oversize of em....untill i ran the onroads!

So i swapped the 3racing diff and swingshaft for the stock setup - I was running on a totally smooth bitumen carpark. No rocks/rubbish - anything to get in the way...not even a bump in the road. It was driving in a straight line, gaining speed...then all of a sudden - got to about ¾ throttle, and it flipped up on it's lid and rolled a few times...then i saw the wheel rolling away.

At first i thought the nut had just come loose, but when i picked the wheel up - it was like the offroad! the nut was still tight on the thread of the cvd - but the cvd was still in the car AND on the wheel...there goes the stock axle too :(

what the crap is going on here?? -lol- any ideas guys?? I'm scared to use em again!!

yeah - i've had to keep the rear wheels loose, otherwise they bind on me and wont spin.
The pinion gear is off at the moment, and if i rotate one rear wheel, should the opposite side rotate at all? - it isn't - it kinda looks like it JUST grabs, but it wont spin. It feels real smooth in there tho?
Each wheel will ballon pretty evenly if it's in the air with acceleration too....i did get my rcmart package today tho, so might try em out again later tonight and see what happens with the gpm ti shafts and stock diff.
At least i'll be able to put my 3racing ball diff and shafts back in if i snap the gpms -lol-

actually i tell lies - if i spin the right wheel forwards, it will slightly spin the opp. wheel a lil bit..but not much - if i spin the same wheel in reverse, it'll kinda grab, but only rotate a small amount - prolly half as much as when i spin in forwards - if that makes any difference? -lol-

How tight should the ball diff be anyways? - the instructions said to tighten it up and back out 1/8th of a turn - but the stock diff is in the atm anyways -lol-

hahaha....I had a stupid discussion about ball diffs and slipper gears that sounds just like what you two are talking about....it brings back memories....

Firstly, I haven't broken anything running the trinity onroads. I have noticed that my right cvd is slightly bent, but figure that must have been one of the many times I've slammed it into something. It could be that because they are much larger than usual wheels, and because theres so much play in the rear, any force applied to the wheels is just amplified.ie. there's more leverage to break them off. I doubt it's that though.

Re the ball diff.
There is no magic behind which way it should turn if you turn one wheel. Especially if you are freewheeling it. Basically it is this, if you stop the ball diff gear from spinning around, ie hold the spur gear still (cos you can't reach inside the gear case), then you turn one wheel, the other wheel will turn in the opposite direction. SImple. That's how it's supposed to work.

Then it gets complicated, cos some people dont hold the gear still, and then try to spin one wheel and get various results which are irrelevent.

And because I said to hold the spur gear, this dick on one18th starts going into some argument with me about how the slipper has nothing do with diffs!? I'm ranting.....

Where was I? Easiest way to check that the all diff is tight enough is to tighten down the slipper all the way, hold the truck to the ground so the wheels can't move, keep the truck still and try spin the spur gear around with your thumb. It shouldn't move.

well, we'll see tonight if i snap anything -lol-
-lmao@theguyonone18th- even i know it's got to do with the diff!!! -lol-

Cheers for the ball diff info man! that's gonna come in handy for me hehehe :) I know that the last paragraph of what u wrote is happening on my truck, but i'll check this bit out tonight :)

let me know if you have any probs or hear of anything about these monsters/shafts d00d! :)

Thanks guys!!!

hmmmm - well i didn't snap anything, and gave it a full lipo pack of run time - which was actually pretty damn good at about the 25minute mark on extreme timing geared 16/61, and i'd have to say at very least 60kph :) (which was most of the time wot)

So now i know the on roads work ok with the gpm shafts and stock diff, now i just have to try the same with the off roads next time.

Then if that works ok, i'll try out the 3racing ball diff and swing shafts again with on roads first, and then the off roads if i have success with the on roads.

But i wont be trying the 3racing gear till i get more spare swing shafts -lol- The GPM shafts actually seem pretty damn solid too when i sit the 3racing ones next to em - might try out their diff too since i got the shafts -lol-

...for now -lol-

i'm not gonna run the trinity's at all untill i get new 3racing shafts to test, so it's back to stockers for the moment - i need to get tyres for the topcad rims - sick of boring yellow wheels - although they match my escalade very nicely since i painted it purple -lol-
